So I just scored this Sharp LC19SK24U 19" HD LCD from Circuit City. It was a black friday deal at $250 so I figured I could use it as a client monitor even if the picture wasn't great. So I got it home and fired it up with the HVX. The picture is beautiful and sharp and very low noise. The colors seem to be right on point when compared to the image on my Marshall 7". But the craziest thing of all is that it has an image rotate function so you can use it with a 35 adapter and not have to mount it upside down. So you can use the pedestal stand or mount it on a c-stand with a vesa mount. Obviously it is not a "real" production monitor but it is great for a director or client. It also has a VGA input so you can use it as a second computer monitor and FCP will send pixel for pixel 720P to it. I have it hooked to my mac as we speak.

Regular price I think is $429 which after seeing what this thing does is still a great deal. But if you hurry you can score one for $249 today only. Here's the link.

Yes, the base comes off and No, the remote/clock thing is not attached. That thing kinda turned me off when I saw it so I thought I'd mention that.

1080i/720P aint bad for a $250 19in monitor.

it does accept 1080i. funny thing is even though it is only 720 native, it is sharper when fed 1080i from the HVX even when shooting 720p. same goes for the marshall.....

regardless, i have been looking for a decent client monitor just to keep these guys out of my marshall when i'm trying to shoot. i have used my 24" dell 2405fpw before and it's ok. but this sharp blows it away.

Just wanted to pass along that this deal is back on for now at least. The price had gone back up to $400 or so after black friday, but it's back down to $249. I bought one today (12/18) online and picked it up at my local Circuit City. I had an in-store only coupon for $40 off of $199 or more, so mine came out to $227 total after tax. If you follow this link (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=690313) at slickdeals.net, there's more about the deal. You can find the coupon in the link as well. I had to buy it online for $249 plus tax and bring the coupon into the store, where they credited my card for the $40. I've only hooked it up briefly to my hv-20, but the picture looks great, especially for the price. As cheezweezl says, it inexplicably has a rotate function (do other LCD TVs have that? I doubt it...), which is great for us since we use a 35mm adapter. Much sleeker than mounting it upside down. Also like cheezweezl, we use a marshall for the DP, but plan to use this as a director's monitor. Like any TV, it cuts off a little of the image at the edges, but shows more that the LCD on the hv-20. I haven't compared it to the Marshall yet to see exactly how much it isn't showing. And it does have a VESA mount on the back, which we're going to use to mount it to our AV cart. I'll probably buy this mount (http://monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=108&cp_id=10828&cs_id=1082802&p_id=3005&seq=1&format=2) from monoprice for $8. I love that place. The base that comes on the monitor easily detaches by taking off 4 screws.

Anyway thanks to cheez for posting this.
