...on 32GB P2 cards?

Who is planning on moving up to the larger cards, whos sticking with 16's and 8's? I think that this may be something good for all of us to see what direction things are moving.

Best regards,

Andrew Hoffman

I would like 32's a lot. That's 64 minutes of 1080 with 2 cards, and around 2.5 hours at 720p...

I think 64's really start to get to the sweet spot for all formats that the camera shoots though.

I'm stuck with 2 8's and a 16 at the moment, so will definitely look at upgrading to 32's.

Later,
Jason

I've got 3 8gb's right now and that works fine for most things I do, but having the possibility to do long form recording will be great. Unless a job specifically requires me to get some 32's I'll probably hold out until the 64's are out and at a decent price.

Hi Andrew:

I have three 8GB and a 16GB. I am very interested in at least a single 32GB card. That will give me 186 minutes of 720 24PN with all of my cards. I do a lot of travel and BTS location work so having three to four hours of capability would mean I can shoot all day without dumping cards. This would make my life so much easier.

Beginnng to love P2 even more. Once I have 5-6 hours capacity, life will be perfect.

I am on a waiting list for two 32GB cards. I'll be keeping my 8GB cards as well.

For now I'm content with two 8's. I might add a 16 and have in effect two, since a pair of 8's will behave like a 16. Or I might hold off until I really feel the need, and hopefully that will be when prices drop a lot more on the larger ones.

So I suppose you could say I'm playing a waiting game - when need and price/capacity reach critical mass, I'll buy.

It sure will be nice when we're able to shoot nonstop for over 2 hours at 24f/720 PN, which will happen at the 64 MB point on a single card (2 hrs 40 mins actually) or a pair of 32s, which of course are coming pretty soon.

I think the HVX will be virtually reborn when that happens. And a pair of 128s, when they're under a grand apiece, will be insane.

I have 1x16, an FS100, and access to 2x16 at my work. I can't wait for the day when I can sell my FS100 and get 2x32 cards. At which point I'll be lucky to get a fraction of what I paid for it... but it's served me well.

i'm still into 8gb's for doing dvd archival, i know you can span across multiple dvds but i just like having my stuff backed up easily on 1 dvd. not to say if 32s got below a grand, i'd definately pick one up.

I've got 8 - 16's and will stick with those until the 64's are out.

Now that being said, that doesn't mean that I will buy 64's. I am holding out to see what the price of the 32's are once the 64's are available. But at that point I will jump on one or the other.

I'll probably buy 1 32 and wait to see when the 64s start shipping before ordering another card.

Had 4's, then 8's. Sold 'em off and went with a couple of 16's about a month ago. Very happy with what I am able to do with them--and I can still use my P2Store (for three cards worth of storage).

I think I'll be buying more 16's before giving serious thought to the 32's but that's just me--16's serve my needs quite well.

I'm not in a hurry. I'll probably upgrade from 16s to 32s when 64s come out, or if I get a nice $$$ project that wants to go slomo crazy. :)

I really do appreciate all of the feedback. The reason why I'm asking is that we have a few 32's coming in very soon and I would like to get an idea of what you guys want as far as cards are concerned.

Andrew Hoffman

Hello Jenny. It's been a while. :)

The problem that we run into with the P2 cards is that there is very minimal margin. The best that any dealer can offer is availability.

Best regards,

Andrew Hoffman

Hello Andrew.
Ah, Yes, we are now in the solid-state age, and yesterday's battle are over!
P2 sista are growing fast now, good little girls.

Just wait the 32's release to spend a week in the US, and buy some stuff there.
With €, the bargain is beyond any expectation.

Perhaps getting my stuff from Spec-Comm? Because there, price is unbeatable! I deserve a discount for long-run mileage!

Hello Andrew, I got my hvx from you guys and am very interested in a 32gb card. Do you have a definite release date yet? How do you guys think you'll go for availability? I don't really want to place an order if I have to wait too long, that's all.

Archiving that big of a card could be an issue. At least for now.

I like the concept, though, especially for those of us that shoot docs in the middle of "no where."

I can't imagine having my HPX500's loaded with 4-64 GB cards...

I have one 16 gig card and will be buying one or two 32 gig cards for an outdoor doc this spring. Feel free to PM me with a price quote. I think the 128 gig cards will be the sweet spot / stoping point for me.

we've got one 16 and we haven't had to dump on set yet but we've come close. when we do get another card, it doesn't seem logical to buy a 16 when you can get a 32 for only 50% more.
