HVX200 and the Firestore 100 when trying to get 1080i or 720p

Does anyone know the best settings for the HVX200 and the Firestore 100 when trying to get 1080i or 720p?

1. Should the camera be in the tape mode or the P2 mode with no P2 card inside?

2.What should the settings be on the camera? F5 or F6 scene mode ok?

3.The firestore100 only needs to be in DVCPro HD correct? Tapless mode right?

4.I shot with it with the camera on the tape mode and the Firestore never gives any settings for 1080i or 720p? Will that work?

5.Also I played my 720p footage on my brothers 46" Samsung 1080p HD LCD tv and it had a lot of noise, even in well lit scenes. Any idea how I can fix this?

1. Must be in P2 mode.

2. Doesn't matter, whatever you prefer. But you have to go into RECORDING SETUP and choose 1080 or 720 mode (not 720pN mode).

3. I believe so.

4. If you have the camera in TAPE mode, the only thing it'll deliver is standard-def DV. No HD is possible when that switch is in tape mode.

It didn't work. What are the other settings that I need? My LCD shows P2 card is full, which is true. Even with no P2 card, it will not start recording.

All I have to do is press record on camera and it should control FS-100, correct? Or do I manually press record on FS-100?

What should the Firewire settings be on the camera? How do I tell it to select an external HD?

You have to go into the hvx menu, other functions ( 9) then change the 1394 to EXT.

I believe I have this selected. I'm just trying to get firestore to respond to camera in P2 mode. Tape mode works fine. But I will try this tonight. Thanks.

If yu want both P2 recording and firstore, then instead of picking EXT, choose BOTH.

Did you read the FS-100 Manual? They point all settings out very clearly. You can DL from their web side.

Thanks Douglas Villalba and everyone. Yeah after booting up FS-100 first, then connecting to HVX200, it worked with 1080i. After it worked I tried camera first and then FS-100 second and it worked too. And I checked both FS100 and HVX200 manuals, it should be: Select desired camera settings, and then on FS100 select P2, tapeless. Press Record. AFter you get the 1394 red record icon on LCD, the No P2 symbol disappears. Happy Thanksgiving. Cheers.
