I have a dvx 100b Im shooting a doc should I get the anamorpic lens if I shoot in letter box 24p 4.3 how will it blow up for film I'm gonna shoot in 24p I just have to decide with the lens or without in todays market and how is letterbox better in post then normal

yeah that gives me a headache... trudged through anyways. If it were me I would not use the anamorphic lens due to the focusing difficulties it can give you. I'd personally shoot squeeze mode and move on. as for letterbox vs "normal in post, I'm not sure what normal means. I'd shoot squeeze and bring it into a widescreen timeline. No black bars to deal with, no cropping, its all done.

and I said what I would do. yeah the anamorphic will give you more res when used correctly but it can also be quite limiting from what I've read. for a narrative I might be more apt to use the anamorphic, but with a doc you dont always have complete control. I wouldnt worry about film transfer personally. And I believe barry's comments have been more towards that the adapter was better than squeeze or letterbox, not that squeeze wasnt good for it.

and since your new to filmmaking I'd take my adapter money and put into lights and sound.
