I need a little help from my friends as the song goes! I am a newbie to the camera and video.
I tried to update the firmware on my hvx - if such can be done! Now the Camera will not go into P2 Mode. It freezes up each time the camera comes on. Here is what happen.

I have the FS-100 Focus Drive. I read the manuel and tried to get it to function with the camera. It did not come up. So I checked the property section on the camera to see what version on the camera. It listed "2. something". Thinking that I needed to update the firmware I went to the website.
Looking on Panasonic site I was what I thought was a "4. something" update for the P2 - 16 giga bit card. I down loaded it to my "SD" card which I formated in the camera.

I took the instruction down also to follow in updating the download. In the mids of the install the camera reported an error in the process. I followed the instruction on the instruction as to what should be done in the even of an error in the installation process.

However, the camera still will not complete the process and will continue to freezed up. Even if I turn off the power the camera stays on. So I physically disconnect the power supply to get it to go off.

I have tried the reset button on the camera to try getting it back to the default mode. That has not helped either.

I called Panasonic emergency hot line. The guy who answer the phone could not solved the question. So I was given a case number and told someone would get back ot me.

Have anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to solve this problem? :undecided Your help is certainly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Meshack.:crybaby:

The current version of the HVX firmware is v4.06-00-0.00. I would hold the reset button in for a while to be sure you're getting it. With some hardware if you lose the BIOS you have to send it in for repairs. The good news is it's not too expensive and might be under warranty.

Thanks Professor U and 5men for you all feed back. Yes the camera is new. I have had if for only 3 months. I will try holding in the reset button as Professor U suggested. I also found the panasonic site where I could download a program to reformat the SD card. I have done that and I will try pluging in everything again to see what happen. However, I was waiting on Panasonic to respond to my email about the problem before I do anything else with the camera. If I do not hear from them by Tuesday I will go ahead and try a few things to see what happens. Either way I will post after the fact to let everyone know what happen just incase someone else have the same problem later.
Once again Thanks for you all feed back.
Sincerely,
Meshack.
