View Full Version : 16gb P2 card error

I have extremely important footage on this p2 card. but for some reason whenever I insert it into the hvx, it says FORMAT ERROR. I am unable to view the clips on the camera.
ALSO, when I bring the p2 card into the computer, I try to look at the contents folder, and it appears as if there is nothing on the card. But when I look at the properties ("Get Info") it appears that there is around 4 gigs of footage.
Is there any way to save this footage and fix the p2 card without formatting and losing the data?

I had the same thing happen when using P2 log Pro and not using the record inhibit switch on the card. Imagine products say that it's an issue with the latest quicktime version and are working on a fix. My footage was not important so I just reformatted the card.
how did you attempt to import it in the first place?

actually i didnt shoot on it, my buddy did, and im trying to save him from disaster. any thoughts?

Well, what occurred that you can relate that can cause the issue?

I honestly have no idea how this could have happened. I own two 16 gb p2's and have worked with them for about a year now without anything like this occurring.
On this shoot, a friend tried to upload the footage from a p2 card, and he said there was nothing on the p2 card, or that it wasnt reading.
here are the facts:
1.) no idea what he did exactly to it
2.) when inserted into the hvx, card reads "FORMAT ERROR" and will not let you view any clips, because it appears there is nothing there
3.) however, when you insert the p2 card into a regular pcmi, it mounts properly on the desktop, and says that the card contains 3.75 gb of footage. when you open up the card itself in the finder, nothing shows up.
is he kinda f*cked? or is there a patch program or something similar that might help him recover data?
any help at all is much appreciated. thanks!
