Hello All,
Some new and exciting things have been happening with the AG-HPX500 lately.
Panasonic has made it much easier to put together a camera package that suits your needs. And we have new low prices!
This new package arrangement is so new, that our web master hasn't coded the changes, so if you're interested in ordering, please call in.
Here is the story,
The AG-HPX500 is available only in one package. It's called HPX500-EFP (HPX500 and VF, SHAN-TM700 tripod plate, and a new PortaBrace Bag designed specifically for the HPX500 and it's accessories. SLP $14,870.)
New low pricing is $11,500!!!
As I mentioned, the case was designed for the HPX500 and includes a pocket made to fit the P2 Gear, and next to it you can fit the AC Power Supply and HDD for footage. There is also a nice pocket for the SHAN-TM700 tripod plate. On the back there is a couple of mesh pockets that are perfect for carrying cables etc... The cases will be shipping sometime after December 14th so if a camera package is ordered, you will receive everything except for the bag. We will ship you the bag once it is available.
Now for the accessories.
Canon has released two new lenses for the HPX500.
KJ21eX7.6BIRSDPS12 (SLP $26,000) and KJ10eX4.5BIRSDPS12 (SLP $25,400).
The lenses that were available previously are available at their individual pricing.
Here is the really cool part! There is a bonus for buying your accessories with the camera. A rebate is made available with each piece if purchased with the HPX500.
For example, the two new lenses listed above come with a $500 rebate. 16GB P2 cards come with a $50 rebate (each), 32GB cards come with a $100 rebate (each), BT-LH80 comes with a $200 rebate, and the P2 Gear comes with a $200 rebate.
In addition to all of the savings you get with the rebates and package pricing, the HPX500, if registered within 30 days, comes with a 5 year warranty!
More information on these packages and an easy way to put these packages together to order will be available on our web store shortly.
Oh, and a great B-CAM for the HPX500 is the HVX200 and we have plenty of those in stock and we are offering a special package deal that includes a P2 card. Click HERE for more info. Please call for more details and/or to order at 1-800-359-1858 or email me at andrewh@spec-comm.com. Happy HPX'ing

Thats got to be great news for someone. Man those Canons are on the high end. I hope the quality is there to justify that.

Im sorta confused by this post - that HPX500 package is without p2 cards so what is the final cost to compare to the original 14K package
and are those lenses CAC lenses and if so then why so expensive?

What about the 4 free p2 card ?? Are those still included in the base pricing of the camera ?

All accessories are sold separately now with rebates.
So if you want the camera package ($11,500) plus four 16GB cards, ($900 - $50 each) it will be $14,900.
My post didn't have all of the info. We are still getting everything together on our store so that you can see the entire list of items that come with a rebate.

They are very nice. Please remember that this pricing is SLP, NOT what they are going for. They also have a rebate attached to them when they are purchased with the camera.

A guy from Canon spoke at length about their CAC lenses, and he said that Canon's approach was different from Fujinon's. With Fujinon they made new bottom-of-the-line HD lenses and use CAC to make acceptable results with them.
With Canon they have three ranges of lenses, the inexpensive "pro" lens line, the medium-quality broadcast line, and the premium lenses. He said that their initial CAC lenses are coming from the mid-level line, not the cheap line. They will come out with cheaper lenses some day, but the zoom control unit on the medium lenses allowed for easier integration with the CAC communication to the camcorder body, and the cheap lens' zoom control unit didn't, so they put CAC in the medium line.
Okay, with that said, I have no idea how the Canons perform but I saw the Fujinons on the HPX3000 (3000 also has CAC) and the results were stunningly good, so I'd have no qualms recommending the cheaper Fujinons to someone who needs to watch their budget.

Yes - the fuji is pretty darn amazing on the HPX500 - worked out great for our feature.
It seems silly to spend 25,000 on a lens with CAC - at that price point you can get one that doesnt need it. CAC is a tremendous leap forward in making cheap glass look like expensive glass

What is CAC?

What is CAC?
Chromatic Aberration Correction. The lenses are designed so that the camera can interact with it and electronically remove chromatic aberration that occurs in cheaper glass.

Ok maybe its me - but these packages totally confuse me - when I purchased - the camera packages with 4 p2 cards and the fuji non extender lens cost about 20,000 - now the camera and lens only cost more then that. how is this a good deal?

I was wondering the exact same thing! Now the camera package I was considering has jumped up over $1600 (package price at another big retailer) all the way to like $7k more (subtract about $500 in rebates) on Spec-Comm site. If I am not figuring right please let me know my error. I WANT to be wrong. But it makes me wonder...

I think there is a mistake. It looks like our webmaster posted the list pricing on just the lenses. We are closed for the holidays until Monday so I will get it all figured out.

fuji lens 8295
p2 cards (4) 3600
total =23395
total rebates = 400
total price = 22,995
I dont get it - something is wrong here - this is still far more then the package was just a little while ago. It was 19,995 as a package - what am i missing here - the portabrace bad doesnt make up the difference

Hello smelni,
I think that the cost driver is the P2 cards now that they have been removed from the main package. Even with the rebates for the cards, once you put them in the package, it bumps up the cost considerably.
Times change and so do the packages and prices. We've seen it happen in the past. Remember though, this new package arrangment is effective December 1st, so if you order now, the old pricing still stands.
Right now, we can do a little better than $19,995 so please call me.

The price of the camera only package decreased. We sold that for $12,499. Now it's $11,500 plus you get the bag and the plate.
But yes, once you get the cards and lens on there, the price is more than before.

Well,
the 500 probably sells good enough now, with the P2 bundle it was kind of a no-brainer for people shopping in that pricerange...
Introduction phase seems to be over.
