Canon XL-1S vs. Sony PD-170

Ok guys, I have read a lot in the web about this fight. FIRST I'm looking for a pre-owned camera, SECOND I want to make some shorts indie films, THIRD I want to learn the much I can making the shorts, THIRD I can't afford too many "service trips" I want durability!. Which one should I choose?? (I know that the Canon cameras haven't got an "hour meter", so it would be a problem if I'm going to buy a pre-owned, what do u think?), AND I haven't got my mind locked with this two cameras, the XL2 and DVX100 can play a part if you guys think appropriate. Thanks.

If you have the money for the XL2 and the DVX100b, you need to delete the possibility of getting an XL1s from your brain. If you get the XL1s, you will only be sorry you didn't get a DVX100b or XL2.
