No actress' are available to me, so that narrows my film content to just male actors. I may sit this one out.

Seriously though, if that is your predicament and you don't want to go that route. Who's to say that your male lead has to be in love with a person?
Maybe he loves his car!
Just be creative.

lol,
Yeah I think I agree for once. I'm sticking to my hallows fest film, should be shooting in 17 days. Better late than never.. kinda. I'd love to do some sort of action / hero / rescue damsel in distress thing but uh.. no.
And Aye. I was reading the paper this morning and this guy married his dog. No comment on the hunnymoon. But it was he believed it may releave his sins of killing 2 dogs 15 years ago.
Just goes to show. Not all love is the standard love.
You could do a man making out with his favourite sandwhich for a few minutes.. it works!

IANSeriously?
Take a look at THIS (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=115403) movie.
In a weird way... this could easily be accepted into the LOVE Fest.
Still not willing? Just use your imagination.
I hope to see something from you...
Cheers,

A man who loves to shoot people, could make an action. Yet again. All depends on these freaking fracking rules.

The theme of Darkness in the last Fest was an excuse for people killing and eating one another, or themselves. Why can't Love be used in the same way? :)
I'm kind of kidding... sort of, but not really.
Love has caused people to do all sorts of strange things.

At the risk of sounding unpopular, I'd certainly be far from aversed to homosexual romance/content in a few of the films here. I doubt it will happen, but it could be quite refreshing from the endless boy-girl folderal likely to be on display.
And now I will add the disclaimer (as required by law in this state) that I am not actually gay.

I'm really curious as to what will premiere in this Fest.
As long as the story is well written and the characters are believable... I'm sold.

Love has many different meanings in English, from something that gives a little pleasure ("I loved that meal") to something one would die for (patriotism, pairbonding). It can describe an intense feeling of affection, an emotion or an emotional state. In ordinary use, it usually refers to interpersonal love. Probably due to its psychological relevance, love is one of the most common themes in art.
Just as there are many types of lovers, there are many kinds of love. Love is inherent in all human cultures. It is precisely these cultural differences that make any universal definition of love difficult to establish. See the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis.
Expressions of love may include the love for a "soul" or mind, the love of laws and organizations, love for a body, love for nature, love of food, love of money, love for learning, love of power, love of fame, love for the respect of others, etcetera. Different people place varying degrees of importance on the kinds of love they receive. Love is essentially an abstract concept, easier to experience than to explain.

Love has many forms and can be expressed in myriad ways. There' s no reason this has to be 40 versions of "Sleepless In Seattle" :)

Most likely not, anybody I'd be able to scrounge up for a film would end up not showing at the last moment.

Lots of scenarios could be two or more guys trying to figure how to deal with women, with a girl problem, or understanding women period. - in the context of someone's loving or lack of loving relationship.

Only one Brokeback comment? aww I expected more.
Hey Jack, thanks for the encouragement. This kind of pushes me to try one this round actually. The "understanding women" thing gives me some ideas because we all know that is an impossible task.

You don't sound unpopular. You just sound pretentious and self-important. Here's a thought. Instead of abusing us with the endless folderal that comes out of your mouth, why not actually make such a movie?

Even though the rules state that love of an inanimate object is not allowed, doesn't mean that you are then forced to do a film about romantic love. There are various forms in which love expresses itself. There is love of family, love of country, love of community, and romantic love (I may have missed some, these are just examples :) )
As I stated before, I hope this doesn't turn out to be 40 Sleepless in Seattle movies ... let's see some creativity, variations on theme, unique takes on genre, etc. Get those creative juices flowing and surprise us.
And, the disclaimer, if you are not 100% sure your idea will qualify or not, just run it past myself or Barry_S.
Peace,
Larry
I bet you could even get Barry and Larry (heh heh, "Barry and Larry") to sign off on love of an inanimate object as long as it was a crazy love or magical realism - i.e., not just a guy that really enjoys taking his boat out on the weekend, but that thinks his boat is real and has soulful conversations with it - something that was a deeper exploration into the nature of love and attraction and / or projection.
For example there's an indie out with Ryan Gossling that's getting good press wherein he's in love with a blowup doll which he thinks is real.

I'm guessing you got confused because Tom Hanks loved a Mermaid and spent a lot of time in dept. stores in Big. :D
vaguely similar concept though Lars and the Real Girl" would be the more "erudite" of the two since it's motivated by psychology and could really happen as opposed being motivated by magic.
