The HPX500 is with the Fujinon XA17X7.6BERM lens,
http://www.fujinon.com/Broadcast/Product.aspx?cat=1017&id=1060

The HVX200 has the SGPro with LOMO lens.

No racking focus here as that would be a dead giveaway as the Fujinon breathes like a heavy weight boxer going into the 12th round.

The LOMO's on the otherhand hardly breath at all.

I'm not very good at getting great compression while retaining sharpness.
So just for fun, see if you can tell which frame is which.

You'll need the divx player.

57 views, no replies. What is it you can't play the file or you can't tell?

sotty, somewhat difficult say, when no A/B comparison shots, although I can tell from some of the shots by the bokeh rendition is that of the SG/Lomo combo. Also, need full resolution images to make a fair judgment, IMO.

Using an OCT-19 mount on the SG?
What Lomo primes do you have?

I would make a guess, however, I just feel like it is a trap, hehehe. :D

hahaha what a riot! Hey tell us which camera is which?
What Lomo lens are you using?

yes, OCT mount on SGpro. I only used one LOMO, a 75mm 1.5f.

I didn't want to put up rez charts as I think people really look to much into micro detail comparisons rather than just looking at real life shots. If I did that you would surely notice a difference. But this is all for fun.

Not just yet. ;)

sotty, I see your point about res charts. I find the order of your shots not good to A/B compare. Perhaps number the shots or something.

Here goes, per order presented to us:

HPX shots: 1, 7, 10, 11,

HXV/SGpro/Lomo: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12

Alternative, shot 7 and 10 of the cat are HXV/SGpro/Lomo. Difficult to tell, lack of DOF in the framing, lack of motion, could be anything with the resolution you present us.

Now tell us! And please don't say, they are all HXV/SGpro/Lomo. :D

Christopher (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/member.php?u=16969),

No, they are not all HVX/SGpro

Good eye. You have 3 out of place.

sotty, thanks. Unless the cat shots are 1 or 2 of the out of places shots, I am stumped as to which they may be, based on the resolution of the files, and some of the plant shots, the bokeh rendition may be masking which lens is which.

I am a big Lomo fan. That is a fast 75mm at T1.4, and the minimal breathing of these lenses is awesome, not observed in these shots. HPX/SGpro/Lomo might be interesting, if not too big to manage, as a rig.

I see Lomo made some zooms, what zooms do you recommend if I were to purchase one? Can they do as nice a job as your 75mm primes albiet they loose some speed?

Here we go-

HPX

1) lamp post
5) flower closeup
7) cat
8) squirrel
9) coconuts
11) palm leaves

HVX/SGPro

2) lamp post
3) tilt up lamp post
4) flowers
6) bike flower pot
10) cat cleaning
12) little girl

-- bwest,
never used the lomo zooms, if quality is that of the primes then I'm sure they are fine.

Thanks again sotty. The one shot I thought for sure was the Lomo's, was the HPX, shot 5. :embarasse

Since the footage you posted was about SD resolution, either rig would be fine for SD output, IMO. Seeing full resolution 720 or 1080 frames or clips, you can probably analyse better which resolves more detail, which should be the HPX, although the HVX/SGpro/Lomo combo will look good.

bwest, a Lomo zoom will not be as sharp as a Lomo prime lens, and they have their own breathing issues, as many zoom lenses do.

Most notably was the dynamic range which was evident on some of the shots with the HPX, though I felt your HPX exposure was overall a tad hot

Proves that investing in the HPX over the HVX with M2 for web-content wouldn't really benefit much now would it?

If you*are doing purely low res web content ONLY, then Id say you could save more money just going with a DVX.

P2 does have it's advantages when it comes to how quickly you can post your footage, and output for web. Tape would consume more time. HVX has that advantage over a DVX.
