I'll put a lot more detail on this once the official rules come out... but for now:


Deadline: midnight of February 10th, 2008 (for Valentine's day)
Theme: Love (any form of love; however, love of inanimate objects is not included)
Maximum length: 6 minutes (credits included)
Format: Film title, body of film, maximum 15 seconds of credits (must acknowledge DVXuser.com)
Required element: Camera (still or motion of any type)
What to shoot on: Any camera may be used and will be eligible for screening
Content: Must be R-rated or lower
Entry fee: None

It is far better to enjoy the camaraderie of the festival as full-fledged filmmakers proudly thrusting your genitalia forward against the wind than to start with such timid testing of the waters fraught with vicissitude and CYA! Around here we have a grand tradition of riding the wagon to the eleventh hour and then slinking away with tail tucked firmly over the anus in skulking shame.

So, I say, Yea verily, you varlets! This is filmmaking for Pete's sake. If you make every film you publicly say you will, you have shat upon the DNA of the craft. Hell, if you are tormented by guilt and feel you must live up to your pledges you can always just make a crappy film. Those take little time or effort. WE KNOW!

Tomorrow night. You basically have most of what you need already. We keep it fairly loose. There will be some minor requirements, like a character name, or a prop that has to show up. Other than that, you've got most of 'em.

I saw the LoveFest announcement the other day.

Tentatively, I'm in. That would make this my first DVXuser short. After the Insomnia Film Festival, I noticed that I work well with deadlines. If I work just to have something for a random festival on spec, I won't finish it.

I have an idea running around in my head. It all depends on if I can fit a story into six pages, find versatile actors, and find the time in the semester to work on it.

Yeah, sorry. I'm a little behind on which threads are active, who has backed out, etc.

I plan to have everything functioning better once the films are actually uploaded so I can be sure that people mean it when they say they are in.

I don't have a thread up though I started about a month ago. I've just about finished up with my entry. Going to take a nap, and wake up to hopefully a fresh set of eyes/ears for some last minute tweaks. I'm on the east coast so 2:59am deadline, huh.

Though I think I'll be uploading by early evening to be safe.
