REMAKE/SEQUEL FEST

You take a previous fest film that was not your own, and you either remake the original or make a sequel to it.

Now THAT, would be interesting.

That's cold Jack.

Good-Lookin' Fest--every movie must have a DP who is not the director. This could backfire.

heheh ... well kidding ... sort of ... :)
but kids on here spend 3K and more on lights etc.
but no time or $ on who they put in the front of the camera ...
I have no $ ... as in no $, so I get that. But there are ways.
Anyone who's in college and isn't making an effort to get an actor ... well ... hmm ...

Jack....I totally agree. There is too little emphasis on quality acting (Unlike your movies of course. The SHED ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I am biased towards the following:

OperaFest (no, not really)

Over60Fest (Lets show some love to the geriatric crowd. They got some great stories and actors floating around. Besides, I am sick of watching everyones 16-25 year old friend attempting to act. Note to all...they are NOT convincing actors!!)

SomeoneWhoCanWriteFest (Ok, we can all shoot and edit pretty well. Lets take a stab at actually writing something that we would like to watch. FYI-This excludes anyone that thinks CSI is a good show.)

PhilanthropyFest (Ok, so we can all shoot and edit and use blood and guts and guns and hootchie mommas and pimps and stripper poles and F-bomb thugs and quick whip pans...etc. How about using the incredible power of the HVX or a similar camera to tell a compelling story that would better the world we live in.)

F-BombFest (For those that simply can't do without)

FishEye-F-BombFest (Everything is better with a fisheye!!)

ExtremeFishEye-F-BombFest (If a fisheye is good, extreme is GREAT!!!)

Someone make me stop.....

How about this... everyone uses the same script MINUS the last page.

That way we're not watching 40 films and knowing the outcome of each one. It would be neat to see how different directors tackle the same script, but at the same time the viewer would still be attentive because of the unknown ending.

What do you think?

I love this, I've never entered a Fest before, I would definitely enter something like this.

This would be very outside the box for us, I'm pretty sure none of us on this board never shot anything backwards... I'll put money on it.

capitalP, if that's so, watch the movie "irreversible", it'll blow you mind.

note: this film is very hard to watch at points because of it's graphic nature. But it does exactly what themacb suggests for the fest (albeit in a feature length)

that being said ... GHOST PIRATE HOOKER FEST

Yeah I saw this movie, I thought it was Brilliantly done, loved it. And I meant members of this board, and looks like I owe Chris some money.

Just viewed it, the acting could of been better, especially the part of the little girl, and I know it's tough to get a kid to act, but the story was pretty basic, but I did love the lighting at the dinner table. And the argument between the wife and husband was pretty believable.

But I think something like doing a film backwards, works better in a thriller/action rather then drama, just IMO ofcourse, thanks for sharing.

Cool site by the way.

I really love the Remake Fest idea. Especially since remakes are all we seem to get these days anyway. Only problem is, you might hurt someone's feelings if you remake a bad film into a great film. :)

Do we have to write a script for the fest, or can we use a preexisting one?
Because I've got a great Monkey/Chainsaw/Weasel script here just collecting dust.

MyspaceFest! All entries must have one shot from a high angle featuring a teenage girl in a bikini holding a beer.

This should be one of the rules no matter what the fest ends up being.

How about a fest where everyone can do what they want but have something like the wine bottle thing to keep already done flicks at bay. This makes it so you don't know what you are going to see. It will be like opening a present for Christma-channa-kwanzikah.

No problem. In fact that puts you a step ahead, since this fest will strictly observe the writers' strike. If you don't have an existing script you're not allowed to use a script at all.

Silent Fest [... ...]

Yes! Let's see who can actually tell a story with images and really separate the men (or women) from the boys (or girls). There's a lot of bad dialogue in these fests.
