Live HDV capture via firewire into Premiere - help needed

Problem:

I get mpeg clips. Is that ok??
My AE cant seem to support mpeg - why is that??


What's with all the pulldown talk??

I use PAL HV 20 cam.
If I use 50i the footage looks interlaced
If I use 25p the footage looks progresive

Do I still ned to preform "pulldown"???

When you capture HDV, unless you're using a third party codec (like cineform or something else) it will capture as an m2t file, which is mpeg-2. I didn't have any problem opening it in AE that I can recall, but you probably wouldn't want to do much AE work on mpeg-2 footage anyway.

Pull down is for going from 60i to 24p.. it doesn't apply to PAL footage. As you said, if you work with a 50i timeline it'll be interlaced, on a 25p timeline it's progressive. No need to remove pulldown. ;)
