Can't get any decent sound gain out of the headphone port using my old Sony (similar to the MDR7506) phones with the HVX-200. My iPod earplugs work -- LOL! But not the standard headphones even with full gain. Any guesses?

different impedances?

Are you sure you've recorded the audio at a properly hot level? Average should be around the upper hash mark (-12 IIRC).

Very well could be. I have two old Sony headphones vintage 1992, the MDR-V200 and the MDR-V2 -- perfect for the big sound system. So what impedance does the HVX200 need?

Yes sir. Audio is recorded just fine -- bumping up against the red hash mark. It would seem you would not need an external amp for the headphone. At max gain on the headphones, it feels real low. Does the HVX200 require a special impedance phone or somethiong?
