My show is an hour long and we have 8 min commercial time sold. Does anyone know the time the show would run before you go to breaks. The show itself needs to be 51.45 long what is the general breakdown for inserting the break in editing.

You probably want to run 4 commercials (2-minutes) in one break...you have 16 30-second spots (presumably)....so divide your total program time by 4 and that would give you a reasonable time between commercial breaks.
What channels do you watch? Most TV I watch has 6-8 commercials (3-4 minutes) in a string.
It sounds like you have purchased program time and are providing the content and the sponsorship yourself. An example of this would be purchasing a block of time from the station, or perhaps a local cable channel, and you do the rest. There a million questions here but if that is the case then the time they gave you is exact, from black up on your show to fade to black and up on the next run of commercials, psa's, whatever, until their next program.
If you were simply providing content and the station was selling the commercial time they would give you an exact amount of total time based on their projected breaks and also give you the approximate time they need to break. Around fifteen in, probably 28:30, and then 45 minutes in, fading to black around 58:30 with ninty seconds before and another ninty after the hour (station break in the middle). If you are in an after hours slot these commercial breaks can lengthen dramatically (whatever the viewer can stand on late movies).
You will need to find logical point in your production to go black for your commercials around these times, unless it a cable channel where there may be more flexability.
Contact the media rep that arranged the block of time for you and they should be able to get you to someone (traffic or continuity) who can help you definitively.

Some shows do 15 minute time blocks with 2 minute commercials in between. Some shows have more commercial time than the actual show it seems!
