Hi guys,

I'm hoping you can offer a little help here.

I have a brand new HVX200, and have just had a bit of a shock. I've had need to shoot to tape, but when I tried to load up my cassette, I got the...

auto off
t reel lock

message.

Looking into the troubleshooting section of the manual, it tells me that this is likely to be because the tape has snapped, but the tape is fine.
Just to be sure, I've tried a few different tapes, but no joy. The machine just won't spool the tape up at all. Nada.

I'm just wondering, before I call up my supplier, if anyone else has had this problem and if there's just something stupid I'm not doing or whatever??

look forward to your replies.

Thanks

Moog

I've shot a lot of tape on my HVX and never seen this - looks like time for warranty work.

I had this problem and a head cleaning helped. Try that first.

In addition to trying a head cleaning, try resetting the camera (recessed button behind the LCD) to clear the message.

Thanks for the suggestions guys,
sadly, no joy.
I'll have to get onto the dealer tomorrow.

Just a quick follow up - in case anyone is interested, my problem does seem to be a mechanical fault, which is a real shame.
Panasonic have been great though. They're sending a courier today to pick it up, and promise a 5 day turnaround, and even offered me a loan cam.

So, yeah - shame it happened. But so far, I feel pretty well looked after. Ask me again in 5 working days to see if I still have a smile on my face

Were you using Red Sony tapes? DVM60's?

AJ101 - I realized no one has ever posted a response to your question, but I am now having this problem with my HVX, and I did use the red DVM60's - why, are they bad?
