Our Flick is a bit too long for the contest but I thought this might be a nice kick off to the Fest.

Shot in 1 night with a bunch of friends, some of whom you might recognise.... eh em... CHUCK.... Shot on the HVX for about 200 dollars in costumes and food.

Great flick man! Tiffany (Corri) is a hottie, I wouldnt go trick-or-treating and mess that marriage up! Great film though, hope you can make it in the next fest.

Easily the best film I've ever seen on DVX.

(yes, I'm serious-- and I've seen nearly all of them)

It may not have been as technically stunning as a few of the films* on here, but the writing was leaps and bounds beyond everything else.

It wouldn't have won even if it had been entered (sadly, glitz enamors the average forum stalker far more than genuine artistic quality), but it may have a chance at professionally-judged film festivals.

Wonderful, wonderful.

Brilliant performances and writing. .... wow, I am truly delighted with what you accomplished here. There is so much that I loved about this and you made it look effortless. Bravo to your cast, every one of them.

Easily the best film I've ever seen on DVX.

That figures, since "Spiral" was so freakin' AWESOME! (and I'm not just saying that cause our special fx rain looked rad :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)) Seriously, if you get the chance to watch "Spiral" do it. It will scare the hell out of you!

This short was hilarious. Nicely done guys. The ending was perfect! I hope all is well with your features. Come back to PDX soon!

The ending was a little twisted for me but I guess that's what you're going for.

Ohh man! Is there really such a thing as "too twisted" for Halloween? haha

Top notch, top notch. I so appreciated that you had, maybe the hottest new actor on television in your movie, and you popped him in for 20 seconds, and then he's never to be seen again. Joel Moore was fantastic in Dodgeball and Grandma's Boy, but this may be his crowning achievement. Favorite moments... almost bursting into song, and the cutaway shot of the swimmer guy. Sometimes it's the little things that get me.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed it.

Sacksnack if you like Joel in this you need to watch Hatchet. The swim guy is Marcus Dunstan one of the co-writers of FEAST & SAW IV. He stole the show in my opinion. One of the funniest dudes I know.

I imagine there was a lot of laughing when everyone saw him all suited up for the first time.

This was pretty funny. Great acting. The editing and pacing is right on too. Was there a lot of improvisation, or was it all scripted? Either way, the dialogue was very good, and very funny. The twist ending was nice and...twisted.

10-30-2007, 12:24 AM
Our Sound guy wasted about 10 good takes because he would burst out laughing everytime he would look at Marcus and Zac.

10-30-2007, 12:28 AM
Billy Pilgrim.... It was scripted but Joel does a lot of improve so Adam Green knew he didn't have to work on the dialogue too much because Joel always comes in and does his own thing and rocks it out. The Almond Joy line was improve... The Guy who lost a bet speech was improve. That's pretty much why the short is 9 mins ... we were shooting for 5 but there was so much great material we had to keep it long.

what a great film, I don't dig comedies that much but it held my attention from beginning to end, the sound is great. Love the almond joy line.. & it had a nice little twist I didn't see coming.

That was hilarious and disturbing. Not so much the gore as the grown men going trick or treating. :) Excellent job! It doesn't hurt that you had Joel Murray. One Crazy Summer is a personal favorite of mine.

I thought the performances were excellent. You have to have good acting, because if you don't, it just won't pull the audience in. It was hilarious and I really thought it was just going to be comical. What a crazy twist.

Nice work, style and pace.

How did you do the blade in the tongue?

rockwiler
10-30-2007, 05:48 PM
Our Make-Up FX guy Robert Pendergraft built it. I think it's a real razor dulled down and it slips over the tongue.

I've watched this several times now and I've to to flat out say that this is the best thing I've seen yet by anyone on DVXUser. Great acting, very good writing and direction. Plenty of production value. I have said for some time that a project will rise or fall on the level of its acting. I think this goes a long way to proving that.

Ha!! Enjoyed the flick! I'd have a hard time holding in the laughter on set too.

I'm curious.. Who did the score? I didn't see a credit in there for that. Was it stock library music?

heheheh "The King - Himself"

cheers and thanks for sharing!

Thanks Edgen. Andy Garfield did all the sound on set and in post. All original score. Yeah the King is from last year's Halloween short "King in the Box" We wanted to throw him in the background. You can find that short on Youtube.
