i've never used it, but i can type a lot faster than i can write with a pen. it would come in handy if i had to draw anything.

Step 1
Get out your special fly pad.

Step 2
Do a drawring on the pad

Step 3
Connect the USB cable to the flypen and upload the drawing to your computur

Compared to using a wacom or a mouse it seems really easy to use.

I agree. What's the point of writing out your essay when the new generations are faster at typing than anything else? Maybe if you're a freehand person.

But I think this would only be useful for drawing. It's better than having a huge pad to draw on.

Plus, yes, it looks really fat, hard to handle.

I suppose you could write notes too, but the size would make that difficult. Plus hiow long do the batteries last? Plus, how good is it really at converting your letters? When I write notes, and quickly, sometimes I'll have strange letters that appear out of nowhere that even I have trouble figuring out what it is. And what if you go back into your notes to write something else, or to fix something? Would it read that you're on a different page or that you've gone higher up on the page?

What's wrong with this persons hand? The fingers look really dirty. Maybe it's from using that pen all day. lol

I agree, it's a lot faster to just type now. And I have been typing so long, my handwriting is a disaster.

But this would be cool for just keeping track of ideas through the day(its still a pain to type on my PALM quickly, even though I am pretty good at it now, and I never got that palm handwriting shorthand to really work for me), sketching storyboards, say if you are in a meeting and drawing out ideas with a partner on napkins in a cafe, brainstorming. I can see it being pretty useful for that kind of stuff. Right now, I have to bring all of that stuff home and scan it to work with it digitally. It does capture drawing, doesn't it?

If it didn't require it's own paper, I could see this is a really cool tool - however the requirement to have the special $8 pad of paper along with you to use it, really restricts it's use.

This pen has a smaller form function, but requires the use of a special clipboard.

yeah, you're right. I missed that. That is a bummer.

I missed it as well. No sell for me, either. I would've used it to keep track of ideas and notes that just pop up.

Oh well.

If you're comfortable with something that big, you may as well go for a tattoo needle and pull a Memento.

Bought one for my daughter last year. It's essentially a small computer in pen form. Cool technology, not quite ready for prime time. Digitally recording your writing is probably the least interesting aspect. The special paper is expensive, so it's not like you can go through reams of the stuff. Sucks down the battery power, so you have to buy a rechargable pack and be good about juicing it every night.

Agreed. Would be cool it it took standard AA or AAA batteries, and would work with any kind of regular paper. As it is, it's too full of proprietary consumables for me.

it's a teaching tool. it requires special paper and comes loaded with functions that will just drive you insane. it's not what you think it is. don't waste your money
