Mmmyello all...

I've been an Avid guy for a while, and still consider myself a relative newbie to AE (maybe 3 years?). The work I do is usually either solely within Avid or AE, and I'm now starting a project moving between the two. I was wondering what the best/most lossless workflow would be, exporting out of Avid, into AE for effects, and back into Avid. Should it be all QTs? QT Refs? Settings in each program, etc?

-16mm source (29.97 DBeta master)
-30i NTSC project, with 16mm matchback
-Cutting on MC 2.5.3 & MCA 2.7.5
-AE 7.0

ANY advice is greatly appreciated...

Thanks!!

Assuming that AE and MC are on the same computer.
QT ref "same as source" out of Avid. Render QT with the Meridien codec (LFF) out of AE.

I'm unclear on the differences between the MC software only version and Adrenaline (other than the BOB). I wouldn't expect any difference with importing and exporting
Sounds like you're good to go.

I believe the only difference, other that the BB is the real-time hardware encoding so that you can send stuff out through firewire / SDI / whatever through the box. If you're keeping the footage internal (i.e. not going out through your Adrenaline - such as creating a DVD or whatever), then I don't believe it comes into the equation.
