I've noticed a lot of footage posted that shoes HVX material to be more widescreen than 16x9. Some of it looks like 35mm aspect ratio or 1.85:1 instead of 1.78:1
What is the correct way to do this? Is there a setting in the HVX200 where you can change the aspect ratio from 1.78 to 1.85. If not what is the best way in post to do this?
FINAL QUESTION: Does the HVX200 have a title safe bounding box to display on the LCD screen? I haven't found it anywhere in the menus.
Thanks very much in advance,
- Nicholas

People finishing in 1.85 or 2.40 are cropping their footage in post.

The HVX can display 4:3 guides in the LCD and EVF, but not other aspect ratios. One way to deal with this is to tape the LCD with transparent tape to mask the unwanted area.
I have created a five-second clip with aspect ratio guides for 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.25:1, and 4:3. Download the ZIP file from the link below (making sure to preserve folder names!), copy the CONTENTS folder and subfolders to a P2 card, and the play the clip in 720/30P mode.
I tried to make a one-frame version of the aspect ratio guide clip, but the camera returns to the clip selection screen when it gets to the end of the clip, so that wasn't practical. Pause the clip during playback, and put tape on your LCD.

i tried dragging the folder to the P2 card on my desktop, but i got a window saying the contents could not be moved because my card was NOT modifiable!

I'm not sure what Mac users do to write to P2 cards, or if it is event possible. It works without a hitch on PCs.
