View Full Version : 720/24P Does "Remove Advanced Pulldown" do the job?

I am about to shoot 720 24P or 720 24PA on the HVX200. Since we cannot shoot 24PN as we are recording on to Citidisk, I am wondering two things:
1. With Canopus Edius is there a "remove advanced pulldown" feature like in Final Cut Pro.
2. How effective is this removal in acheiving true 24p?
Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no 720PA. The true framerate of 24P on the HVX is 23.98P.
In Edius you would use a "Generic OHCI HD 24Hz" with "960x720 23.98p over 59.94p" project.

No. 720/24pN is 23.98; 720/24P is not. They are two separate modes, and he's said that he is not using pN.
720/24P should record using 2:3 Pulldown.

There is no advanced pulldown in 720p mode. 24pA only exists for 480i/24pA or 1080i/24pA.
And EDIUS is smart -- it knows how to strip out the pulldown from a 720p over 59.94p file. THoff's advice was right on the money.

I thought agcohn was right saying 720/24PN is 23.98 and 720/24P is not, it has a pulldown on it? I am a little confused being a newbie and all.
I cannot use 720/24PN because it will not record onto the Citidisk. Only 720/24P will. I could be wrong but I thought the 720/24P doesn't record 23.98.
My concern is that I wouldn't be able to get rid of the pulldown in Edius. Will it take away the pulldown automatically?
Thanks for all of your help everyone. Stressful times!

I was wrong. 720P/24P uses 2:3 pulldown, not 2:3:3:2.
