I haven't bought the insurance yet, but this is what I was told by State Farm: for a $60 annual premium, you can get a "personal articles" policy. This covers accidents and breakage! Or, you can opt for $27/month...

That doesn't sound horrible...Somehow I am only paying 45 bucks a year for international insurance..I will talk to my Mom and see how she hooked that up being that it is so inexpensive..

Lol..I am 17 thats why I need to talk to my Mom...:)

Next month I turn 20, move out of the parents' house, and start work at Warner Bros. The night is young, but I'm sick of being a kid, you know? The nice thing about the "personal articles" insurance is that you don't have to have homeowners or renters insurance, which is nice since I'm in limbo right now.

So its separate from renter's/homeowner's insurance, correct??

How'd you get a job at warner bros? I couldn't even find a job at the local best buy or video rental place. *sigh*

Nepotism. My neighbor is friends with the Vice President of Human Resources for television. You know how they say "making it" is 1 part skill, 1 part luck, and 1 part...um I forgot...well this is the 1 part luck part. My only advice is, if you live in LA, or even if you don't, go on craigslist.org and crew on someone's stuff for free. And just to make sure this stays on topic, let me mention something about insurance. Insurance.

I have ALLSTATE Renter's insurance and they will only cover $3,000 of video equipment! Video equipment to them includes DVD players, VCR's, and not just my professional equipment. My camera takes up that total amount! I have a tripod, matte box, wireless audio...etc that won't get covered if I chose that option! I am going to end up getting business insurance as soon as I get my business license so everything will be insured. Crazy thing is that my Final Cut Pro editing system (MAC G5) IS covered under my Renter's insurance!

just FYI but..you dont need a business license if you are a sole propreietor. you just need to file taxes for the business as a sole proprietor usingr your social security # as the business # under the schedule C business profit or loss section of the form 1040.
