Thats right.. Just shot last week and the final hot off the presses..er.. or the masters deck.
At anyrate the shoot was troubled from the get. Rain pounded us all day and I believe all total 4 set ups were missed, but we improvised and had a great stedi cam operator.
This was all shot on our new HPX with a Fuji HD lens and doubler.. cut in Final Cut, FX in Motion, Color in final touch.. enjoy
(Sorry link had to be pulled down for now)

Nice work (coloring, framing and cutting, graphics too.) however it seems rap videos are cliche and distasteful nowadays. Sorry to sound rude. I dont mean it as an insult. Actually, it seems almost all music videos are cliche and distasteful recently (or maybe they have always been that way)
Regardless,
Congrats on the HPX! I am lovin mine! Its like a "P2 Varicam", but better.

Not offended in the least but curious.. distasteful how? In the girls dancing around? I ask this because this is frankly one of our tamer videos regarding that and much more so then most of what is on the music channels these days.
It does come down tot he clients wants. Id love t say we have creative freedom ect ect but more often as of late that is not the case. We normally provide the girls for the video, this shoot they were all imports brought in by the label which is out of Italy
Sex sells and boy do hey know it. But this video we did not do anything overtly sexual.. pretty tame in most respects so curious what it was that bugged ya ;)

Yeah, I think music in general has always in some way been that offensive from 9 inch nail "F_CK U Like an Animal" to baby got back. No difference to this Coolio video. I believe we just out grow it. No need to comment on the content. No reflection on you as a DP, or Director if you make a solid video.

Hi Tizzy,
Thanks for keeping your cool. And again its not the art, its the content that bothers me. So, To answer your question: Let me first say I am not the average consumer( I dont even own a TV! And this is the industry I am in!) and many people dont feel the way I do about this. The sex does sell (it always has). It used to not bother me when I was In middle-school and high-school (I actually enjoyed it). But now being a married man with a child. My thinking has changed, Its something I just dont want to see. What we see on today on the mainstream, reflects our values and moral as a culture. You said "Sex sells and they know it" and I think you were refering to the marketing departments. Here is marketing in a nutshell: Tell/Show the people what they want to hear/see so they buy your product. That is what concerns me and what I call distasteful, What we want to hear and see is; "Money makes you happy", "live it up today and dont think about the consequeces", "Sleep with whoever you want to". This video was not as explict as others like "wait till you see my dick" your right.
We have bought into all of these lies and have lost the value of the worth while things in life (which are not things at all), like family, friends, doing the right thing (even when nobody is looking), giving generously to people, helping your neighbors, taking time out of your schedule even though you dont really want to, encouraging your friends and being there when they need you most, being sincere, saying "thank you" and meaning it, keeping your promises (especially to your wife) not getting revenge, loving people like you love yourself, and the list could go on and on.
Where do you see that in the mainstream? (Ok sometimes on Oprah)
"I believe we just out grow it" said ifownlee41nite@mac.com (in reference to being offended)
It will be and it is a sad day when we "outgrow" all of our values and learn not to be offended at anything. We will see just what a Godless, strung out, and incredubly f_cked up nation/world looks like with out morals.
I know I said a lot and we could debate this all day (and I dont want too). But bottom line, of my comment: there is a better way to live and it just seems it is forgotten about.

... this shoot they were all imports brought in by the label which is out of Italy
That or Brazil was going to be my guess.
The main woman (next to coolio the whole time) is amazingly beautiful.
You know what, it wasnt bad at all. I find Coolio funny yet oddly entertaining.
Your skills are impressive and I hope to be on that level someday.
The HPX is a hell of a camera and it shows through~ Im always impressed with your work.
Personally, political science debates should be conducted elsewhere.
Thanks for posting Tizzy

Good looking video. The image is great, but I have a feeling that-- if it isn't already-- Coolio's career will officially end on this note.
And all videos are cliche because some music just evokes a certain mood or emotion. It isn't just rap, it's everything.
Now, talking about how cliche rap videos are... That's cliche; on these forums, at least.

Oh I never took offense and I wouldn't. Personal convictions are never personal, other then to the person who believes in them so I knew you were not attacking us. I was simply curious to hear more and you did that. I agree with much of what you said and more importantly defend your right to believe it. I don't think your post was out of place, and hey what's the point of the forums if we can't speak our minds right?
As for camera settings. I will have to check with the DP to confirm. We just got the camera and have shot very little with it. We picked it up halfway through the last feature we were hired to shoot and produce (gear and crew wise) and it was amazing, this is now only the second project since so i wills ee what info I can get ya
