Barry_Green

Yes, his last film was the scariest ever. THIS film, however, is billed as the "scarriest" ever.

I predict a lot of superficial flesh wounds that don't heal properly.

I may be wrong, but I believe this means it will be exactly 2 times scarier than the first...

Typically embalming fluid contains a mixture of formaldehyde (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formaldehyde), methanol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanol), ethanol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol) and other solvents. The formaldehyde content generally ranges from 5 to 29 percent and the ethanol content may range from 9 to 56 percent. - wiki

Barry_Green

Okay, it goes like this:

Movie Master is nuts. Several people try to point that out; others question whether he's really someone else (one of our longtime members, perhaps?) and just assuming a fake identity. Then other of our longtime members assume fake identities (like Hairy Stuff and Scary Stuff) and join in on some profound nonsense. Through it all, Movie Master maintains an amazingly delightful detachment from anything we might consider "reality".

The sheer joy of watching a new movie master movie for me is something close to watching a new Peter Jackson movie...or a new Spielberg movie. I was giddy with excitement from beginning to end.

I thought you did well movie master. I didnt quite understand the story...but that didnt keep me from enjoying it. I liked the masked character and cheered for them to open the door so he could get in and cause large amounts of doom, dispair..etc!!

I think if you had more money and people at your disposal you could do some really awesome stuff...not to say this isnt......it would just be MORE awesome.

Anyway...keep up the good work...I'll be looking forward to seeing what you drag up next...from the dark reaches of HELL!!

EVIL job Movie Master!

I liked how the cam lingered about without a bunch of cuts. And the look was great, reminded me of one of those alien autopsy vids. Music was really great though I think I mighta like it more with just the bassline (trumbone or whatever it was) and taking the other instruments out, or at least until a little later on.

"Friends to the end" - ha, I was waiting for a little red head doll to run in front the camera.

The dude playing the bad guy was brilliant! Very, very good. Like the constant "Michael, Michael" taunts.

Good job MM. Looking forward to your next EvIL flick!

MM,

this shows some definite improvement in your movie making skills, although I think it could have benefitted from the other 39.4 mb of space you had left for compression.

That being said, I liked the look of the "operating" table sequence in the beginning, and some great b-movie horror type stuff from there.

I give it a 666 out of 10.

Oh Master of Movies, i HAVE watched your film about 4 times.
i can tell you that i really liked your film. i really like the lighting and score and make up. I loved the first scene and the last scene, the autopsy, in particular. I also thought you had one of the best looking title sequences and closing credits, great fonts, very professional looking. the autopsy scenes, or operating scenes, looked and felt straight out of the recent Halloween remake. you might be the rob zombie of the dvx crew?

one criticism, next time maybe try some ADR and don't rely 100% on the camera mic, that would surely polish up your future movies into posessions of demonic hellfire from satan himdelf. whatever that means!
Cheers bro, good work.

Dear Satan,

Am I missing something? I really wasn't ever sure what was going on. I wasn't able to tie the opening "autopsy" sequence in with the rest of the movie. The acting also left much to be desired. I didn't care for this on many levels. With that being said, this is definitely an improvement over your last entry.

It did actually have a wierd 70s Italian horror vibe to it, though.

J.R. Hudson

SIgh MovieMaster

Something about your films are intriguing me. They're bad, but have elements that are good.

I really enjoyed the visual approach on this one; cool vignetting and a sort of 16mm / 8mm vibe going on. I also like your use of scores in your films; they work.

Some stuff I don't like however is the horrendous acting. I think it's time to actually audtion some real actors for your next project; because this cast killed you on this one.

I admit, I did not completely follow the storyline but still, something about your work makles me watch. I still recall the HAND SHADOW in your first film with great pleasure.

Keep shooting. I think somewhere down in your head, you've got the chops to become a filmmaker, but you need to really start studying the craft and taking all of the pieces seriously.

fun film. I liked the morgue scene at the beginning visually. The sound in the living room needed work as well as the lighting. The acting of the the killer was good. The kid on the phone needed a little work but it actually made the scene kind of amusing. Nice effort, keep at it.

Hey Movie Master,

I'm not 100% sure what happened here. The mask was scary but I guess I could get into the film because I was to busy. trying to figure out what was going on.

The doctor/morgue scenes looked good. The low resolution video would very creepy for that and I actually got a sense of House of 1000 Corpses for a split second.

My sound sucks and that did not help since your project seemed to have some sound issues. I hate that I cannot give a decent comment but I could not hear 90% with my sound cranked full volume.

I do agree with the other guy...living room scene was so dark yet the autopsy was fine. Were you trying to give it a darker look?

Was the ghoul a face mask of sorts and make up or just makeup? It was cool to see the face motion with the line even if I could not hear it. So often a full mask is used and the lack of facial motions bugs me...

MM, I don't know what to say. It is clear that you enjoy making films and I hope that you keep at it. But I also hope that you one day find a way to bring some quality into your films. I don't mean this to be harsh but certainly you must recognize that your films are poorly lit and have bad sound. You really need to bring in a fellow filmmaker who can expose you to a few techniques.

Please don't brush off what I am saying. I am trying to be sincere.

You can do so much more with household lighting if you have to. Just taking an unused lamp from another room and using it to accent a wall or something. There is no depth in your shots and things are way too dark. The guy that runs out of the door and jumps the fence... I had no idea there was a fence there! I only figured that out when I heard the clanking of the chain link. Darkness in film can be very effective but even in the darkest scenes, you should consider highlighting some of the elements in the scene. The lighting in the morgue was actually nice. The stuff in the house just doesn't cut it.

And your sound. Wow. Listen, sound is one of my weakest strengths but you have to make an effort! It just seems like you don't care about the sound quality. And there are simple things, like when editing... you chopped off the trail of dialogue when you cut to a different shot. You have to pay attention to these things. It doesn't take much to do and I know that you can do it.

Your soundtrack was enjoyable. One of the strengths.

The look of the film was a strength as well. Very retro, 8mm look to it. It works!

The acting was dismal. It looks like you are just shooting for fun but I know that you are striving for more than that. You have to start using people with real acting experience. Go to Craigslist. Do an audition. People will turn out and want to be a part of a film. They often will do it for free. Even talented actors trying to get experience and exposure.

As for the story, it was entertaining. Unfortunately, there is no link to the autopsy sequences and the stuff in the middle. I don't get it at all.

It is good to see your return to the fests. I hope that you take what I say with the knowledge that I am really trying to offer some helpful feedback. Keep at it! And keep trying to enhance your abilities.
