I just got the BREVIS

And I must admit I havent done a lot of testing with it. First impression under available light in my room shows that there is considerable light loss. More then I expected based on what people have said how its the best low light adaptor. Is this part of the adaptor or just the way I have it set up? Someone suggested I overlight and stop it down. I have heard this term before but never figured out what they mean by stop down? Do they mean the gain ? Or to do it in post with the contrast? I am using an HVX200 by the way.

Any help will be appreciated

It might help if you provide more information.

What lenses, what settings on your HVX, how much light loss you see between your adapter and your naked HVX?

Overlighting and stopping down is something you wouldn't do in available light. It means using more powerful lighting to aproximate the look of low light, then making it appear dark by stopping down your iris or in post.

Available room light is often tough even just with a naked HVX and all the adapters lose some light.
