Just a quick question.

For you're hallow fest entry, for those who have made it already. Or alternativly previous fests.. [except ad-fest] whats the average amount of time you've recorded footage for.

What i mean is. How many tapes have you used & how many minutes have you shot before editing it into the final film. Just trying to get a rough idea before shooting.

Different people, different lengths. Although it would be interesting to know.

It's hard for me to tell because we shot tapeless, but from some very crude math, around 4.5-5 hours of footage for the 5 min. But that's with hardly any outtakes or extra random footage.

EDIT: nevermind ... i suck at math ... we shot a lot in 60p for slow mo.

Wow hybrid... that's a lot...

We had about 70-80 min. of footage for our 5 min. film. Hardly any outtakes, and about 2-3 takes per shot (about 65 shots)

Wait...5 hours? really? No wonder I fell asleep at the camera that one time.

I've recorded about 2 1/2 hours for my movie so far...and its about halfway done. The last fest I entered I shot about an hour total.

that's called shooting ratio

I think a good bar to strive for is around 10/1 for video, 3/1 for film. Depends on the circumstances a lot though.

lol ... like i said ... my math could be way off ... wait ... we did shoot a lot in 60p ... ok ... so like 2 hours.

EDIT: Ben = still wrong, it was around 90 min.

ok ... so since it was bothering me, and since this was for Ki-Ki's posterity anyway, i went and added up our shot lengths.

For a 4'39" movie (that's with credits), we shot exactly 91.37 minutes of footage.

That's 205 shots and 30.87 GB of raw footage.
