Okay, I have the Letus FE and love it but want to make the upgrade to one of the latest models since I'm within 60 days. What would you upgrade to, and why?
many thanks!

Yeah the one complaint I've heard about the FE is that its build quality was poor and would fall apart after a year. The economy seems like the same plastic construction and I imagine might suffer the same fate. Plus look at the big red Button!! Sweet!

You can look at the product comparison on their website -
Better condenser, Aluminum vs plastic housing, enclosed battery and 1 year vs 90 day warranty on the unit -
For $300 difference at this point, it's a no brainer.

I don't understand why people think the FE build is such that it won't last. I've been using mine extensively for a year and it still works great. It all has to do with taking care of your gear. Of course I realize if you have it on a movie set you don't have as much control as you would like but for the average user, the build is robust enough.

The one thing I do like about the Economy is the weight. The FE is just about light enough to use without rods and even with some carbon rails its not too tiring to hold. I know it's not a whole lot more but every bit counts especially on marathon event shoots or when there's steadicam involved.
