Can't format Harddrive

Hi everybody,
I just bought the following setup to download my P2 files:
Macally PHR-250CC harddrive enclosure with firewire 400 and a Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200 RPM harddrive.
I can't format it. The HVX doesn't let me do it. The option is greyed out.

Are you using that enclosure and drive with the AC adapter?

Or are you trying to bus power it?

I'm using a special usb powercable and it's plugged into my Powerbook.
But Power is not the problem, at least I think so, because the harddrive light is blinking.
