I'm planning to buy the Sony HDR-FX1 and HDV but Idon't know if is the best for whata I'm going o use it for. I'm goin to use it for short films and commercial indoors and outdoors. I could appreciate some input if there;s a better choice out there or what you guys recommend. I have around 4,000 to spend.

Thank you

I had the FX1. It's a good camera with very nice, vibrant colors but it didn't do 24p so I sold it for an XH-A1. If you're doing short films then I would recommend the A1 over the FX1.

I have read that the fx1 is good for a documentary or uploading to the internet and getting the best quality , but you may want the a1 if you are doing short films and things like that.

I purchased one of the first FX-1s, it's not a bad camera but I would never buy one again. I started out as an editor and hate nothing on this planet more than HDV.

Just say NO to HDV and use an IC like Cineform. Problem solved.
