Hi, just got my HVX, and with awesome stoke flowing, tried to install the P2 drivers onto Windows XP 64 in order to transfer footage via firewire... only to find that the drivers don't support xp 64, nor do they support Vista 64. I'm wondering-- do the drivers only matter for pulling the footage directly off the camera (using it as the drive)? If so, could I buy a PCMCIA add-on card and bypass firewire and the drivers, simply copying the files from the card and taking them directly to NLE? Or will I be needing the drivers anyway, in which case I'm SOL if I want a 64bit operating system? On a more desperate note, I don't suppose anybody's figured out a work-around for 64-bit systems? Seems like pretty bad form on Panasonic's part not to support them. Much thanks.

Are you using the drivers that came on the CD, or the latest ones on the Panasonic website? AFAIK, 64-bit support does work at least under Windows XP, I'm not sure about Windows Vista.

I've tried both... not working either way. The panasonic site says the new drivers support vista 32 but not 64. From what I've read on this board XP 64 isn't supported at all, couldn't find any mention on the Panasonic site.

I'm running Vista 64bit Ultimate. I installed a pcmcia card on my pci bus. I had no such luck at all getting any driver to install on Vista 64bit. I was actually considering installing 64bit xp so I can offload my P2 cards.
It's good to know it doesn't work at all with 64bit. I may just have to set up another drive to boot in xp 32bit to offload my files to my raid. Then reboot and work in Vista. Kind of a pain...but I'm running Vista 64bit figuring I can get a bit more ram for AE etc.
If anyone has any luck installing these drivers on any Windows 64bit platform I'd love to know.
Thanks for the post...

The drivers are for the card, not the PCMCIA slot, so changing the slot won't help you.
Until MS figures out more of the premium content management kinks, using Vista in general isn't easy. Writing drivers isn't cheap, and nearly any driver that deals with audio or video in XP won't work in Vista. 32-bit drivers won't ever work in 64-bit OSes.
Basically, Mircosoft made manufacturers create drivers for four different OSes instead of one, quadrupling the programming cost. People that use less-than-mainstream hardware or cutting edge tech are the ones that lose out.

Are there drivers for the DVX100B for Vista?
