Have any of you had any issues with the brevis adaptor? How reliable is it. The lens motor kinda freaks me out, gets me thinking it could crap out on me on a imporatant shoot.

I've had a Brevis Rev 1/2 and 2.5 with the microcollimation and have never had an issue with any part of the adapter. You could go over to the cinevate forum and poke around any issues would be freely discussed.

All the adapters have motors so any of them potentially could crap out.
Its never given me any problems. Well built and Dennis has been responding to user complaints with imporved designs for some time now so many bugs are worked out.

Actually I haven't heard of motor problems in particular re any of the adapters.

The motor does have its quirks. If it stops halfway, just point the thing up. It works everytime but it is inconvenient.

Chan I wonder if you haven't set the oscillation speed right (turning the screw). Just check the cinevate site for more, it seems to be the culprit if an adaptor's motor stops.

I have experimented with that already for ages.

Its definitely a problem with the motor.

You should mention this to Dennis. I remember reading over on the Cinevate forum something about a batch of motors back in teh day that had this issue more. He got different motors (I think) and now has a much more intense testing regiment for the motors as well.

I haven't had mine long, but haven't had any issues what-so-ever

Like anything mechanical....there can be problems. It's true that we carefully bench test every motor that we use based on several different criteria so problems are pretty infrequent these days. When problems do arise, we make every effort to have the unit back in it's owner's hands 1-2 days after it comes in, and have been known to cross ship replacement units for a next day resolution.

In other words, service is very important to us, particularly given the pressure that folks are under when doing a paid/scheduled shoot.

Dennis is right, The Brevis I had , had a few problems but will all solve by calling Dennis or emailing him, He even offer to get it send in and will send it out within 2 days to me ( I live in Munich Germany). I mean, that is why the Brevis has a 1 year warranty. I have known of cases of even a mini35 breaking down during a shoot.

It is more the customer service and support that makes the different. The Brevis is like any other adapter around , works but you never know if you are the unlucky one to get a faulty unit. Read around and you will see that all adapters have thier own shares of problems ( SGpro, Brevis, Redrock, Letus, etc...)

Nice to know, I will contact you, Dennis about having my motor replaced. Is there any cost involved other then shipping?

Tap it with your knuckle. That works too.
