ummm dude. that was freaking amazing. with the low budget warnings I was expecting crap. You and your friends have some definite talent there. Cool song too. Congrats on a job well done.

yeah all too often low budget and low talent seem to go together. especially with post titles like "my first music video" with a youtube link. guess I got caught off guard :)

I absolutely love this video. Really dig it. I love the song, the band. When they were running it looked like they were peddling with a camera on the handle bars or something. Really cool look. How did you shoot that?

i used an hvx200 with a redrock 35mm adapter with 3 main lenses (24, 50 and 85)
i also built this snorricam (bodymount) out of wood and a shitload of velcro, which gives a darren aronofsky feel to the running scenes. it's pretty crazy looking.
you can check out some of the production photos on my myspace if you'd like... www.myspace.com/connorobrien310

Awesome. You have done RedRock proud. I look forward to seeing some more great stuff from you, and let the band know they did a great job musically, and on camera.

Hey there,
Great video!
How did you do the band talking in the poster?
Did you rotoscope them out and added this in AE?
Thanks

that was great! You're talented enough to not have to make low budget if you don't want to...

well right now i'm just trying to build my resume. although, if i had the opportunity to be involved in a project with a larger budget, i wouldnt be opposed to it *wink wink*. i'm really glad you guys liked the video though!
as for the wanted poster, my good friend doug urquhart used AE and motion tracked the marks we made on it and inserted them in.
Cool! Like the running sequences. Thumbs up!

Loved it! Makes me want to shell out the cash for a 35 adaptor and some nice primes right now!

It's amazing! One of the best music clips here. ;-)
How many time did you spend on it?

Ya, you just shot them against that wall and shrunk them to fit the poster. I dnt think you need rotoscoping.
The video...= unreal. Great job man

Reminded me of when we were in Venice, the pro body mount is called dogicam > http://www.doggicam.com/
Pretty cool! But yours was very effective!

Great work indeed. I'm about to do the same thing. My first music video for friends and for free. I wanted to do something similar to the doggiemount cam. Where exactly are your photos of it? Got any advice on building one? Send me a PM if you couuld.. that would be awesome. I was going to make it blind and just wing it but getting advice would be beneficial. I was going to start with a weight belt and see what develops. I'm not shooting running or anything, but it is the singer walking through a crowded club... should be cool and hope it turns out as well as yours. I'll post it when it's done
congrats and any info on how to build a body rig would be awesome. from you or anyone else.. cheers

you can check out photos of the snorricam i made on my myspace. www.myspace.com/connorobrien310
i dont have the blueprints anymore, but if you check youtube for "how to build a snorricam" some kids came up with a basic design on how to build one. their's work for the most part, but you cant run with it. i modified their design by using a lot of velcro.

I just watched the music video you shot and wanted to say great job! Keep at it 'cause you've got a great style and great ideas. That video is an awesome calling card for you so if you can keep doing some freebies and build up your reel you'll be on your way!
Have you been to www.mandy.com? People are always looking for DPs or directors to work on shorts or music videos.
Good luck and keep at it!
best,
Daniel

It looks amazing. Try to find some festivals for it so you can get some awards.
Can you tell us what you did for color?

Very well done, indeed!
Would you mind telling us a bit regarding the "film like" effect. I guess that is what others call rotoscopy.

That was just a really great, fun video. I am extremely impressed. I loved the song! It was so much fun watching that video. The song by itself is good, and enjoyable, but the extra element you added by bringing the song to life with the video is work well done. Wow!

I hope Connor doesn't mind me bringing up this thread again, but we had a meeting and talked about his video a bit and I want to try to promote his work to people who can give him further opportunities as a director because I absolutely loved this video and I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to see what he could do with a higher budget even ;)
If you go to http://www.shutzi.com and click on portfolio, you'll see the video in higher resolution and it's much more gratifying, it looks gorgeous I think. Check it out Justin et al if you have a chance.
