Has anyone done a 16mm film out and what should I be aware of when shooting?

regular 16 is 4:3, so that should be taken into account. why are you going to 16 anyway?

The director needs it for a final for the London film school. I guess its a requirement.

fair enough. I cant think of much besides the aspect. depending on the stock, you might see a change in latitude from originating on an HVX, and most definetly the introduction of grain, but film grain's sexy anyway.
