Im in PAL land, just converted to final cut pro 6 and a new mac book pro, loving the benefits but am confused about the 720p support,

ok, so the PAL camera can record 720p25 and 720p50, firstly there is no import settings for 720p50 - does that mean it is not supported? when i import a 720p50 clip into the sequence it doesent offer a change sequence settings option but still seems to play......

what is happening here? playing 50fps/playing 25fps?

If i wanted to film say a music vid at twice the speed in 720p50 then slow it down to 25fps what are my options,

Ive tried to play with the dvcprohd frame rate converter but nothing happens when i try to open it,

sorry if these are amateurish questions, i am just learning FCP6 and am slightly in the dark with it all,

Thanks everyone

hey,

i'm in PAL land too.

just the other week i shot a music vid in 720p25. also got a lot of slow mo footage ie. at 50fps.

this plays back fine as proper half-speed slow-mo in a 720p25 sequence.

and i'm only on FCP 5.1.4

hope that helps

Yes you're 50p footage playing back on a 25p timeline will be half speed.

You should have a setting to edit 50i (interlaced) footage. Is that where you're getting confused?

thanks

but the 50p footage does not play back at half speed and there is not an import setting for dvcpro 50i except in 1080, and the 720p footage in not interlaced,

just trying to work out the best method to record 50fps, still record audio and be able to slow down the footage to true half speed (25fps),

is there no import setting for dvcpro hd 720p50 then??

You have to drop it in a 25p timeline to playback at half speed. I'm not sure how final cut pro works but I can't see how it'd be any different than another editor.

To record sound at 50p you can't shoot 720p/24pn 60fps. Just use the 720p/50p mode and it'll record sound.
