Hey guys, I got the new final cut studio 2 package. One problem, I don't have enough RAM lol...It wants 1 gig, and I only have 512. So my friend is gonig to get me some for a good deal, but it is in about 5-6 days. I have already waited a while without editing, and i really want to use final cut. I can use motion, compressor, soundtrack, dvd pro, but not color or final cut.

Would it be a problem if i did the following:

I still hav my final cut pro 5.dmg file which is the version befor the new final cut. Can i just click that dmg file and download it so i can use final cut? Then when i get more ram, i can click the final cut studio 2.dmg and then it will overwrite it?

Will this screw up anything?

Thanks!

-Side question, didn't want to start another thread, but i downladed a program that allows my one clickable mac mouse to have a left and right click. I didnt like it so i delete the program. Only problem is, is that my mouse can still right click, and its annoying because i only want a one click...Any way i can get it back to it's original place?

Is FCP6 already installed? Have you tried running it?
If FCP6 is installed it would be best to completely uninstall it before trying to relaunch FCP5.

If you keep jumping from version to version it could cause problems down the road so it would be best to avoid it.
If you can wait a couple more days before your RAM shows up that would probably be best.

For the Mouse - check your mouse settings in the system settings first. See if there is any weird latent option there that you can turn on/off. Otherwise, how did you go about uninstalling the application exactly? If you just dragged the icon to the trash that might not remove all the necessary bits and pieces you actually need to be removed.

As for FCP, I don't know about swapping out the .dmg files idea, but you can have both installed at the same time. We had 5.1.x installed, renamed the Applications icon, then installed FCS 2. FCS 2 goes coocoo for coco puffs if you migrate a 5.1.x project with multi-cam, so we have a few systems that require both versions. So far have not had a single problem with the setup.

Cheers.
