xha1 with fcp6

hello.

i have just bought a canon xha1 and will be starting with HDV. i am a bit confused about this format though. can anyone help me to make a good workflow with fcp that enables me to edit with a minimum of loss in quality.

i also wonder about all the codecs; AIC, prores 422 and so on.... can anyone clarify the subject to me?

Capturing HDV from the A1 using FCP 6 should be fine. For your Easy Setup, make sure it is: Format=HD, Rate=23.98 Use=HDV-1080p24. Then start your project, and you should be ready to log and capture. You can then convert it to pro res if you prefer to edit using that codec. I would test both out and see what works for you.
