View Full Version : Making 4:3 look like widescreen/anamorphic?

First off I am sorry if this is found somewhere else on this board. I tried searching and didn't find what I needed.

So...basically I just got a Panasonic DVX100B and THOUGHT I shot my entire short in widescreen. Boy was I wrong - I set the display to widescreen (16:9), but not the actual recording. I know, stupid mistake! Well I am new and I've learned so whatever!

My question is: Can I turn my 4:3 24pA footage into 16:9 widescreen with a certain program? Will it still look good or will I risk losing quality?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :)

You can make letterbox mask over your 4x3 video then use PhotoZoom or Instant HD to uprez Or the other way around. Use one of those programs to uprez then bring it in a 16x9 sequence. If your set on 16x9, its worth a shot...

I don't know how to do it but I know that the DVX just places black bars over part of the image to create 16:9 so you have to be able to do that in post. There should be know uprezzing or image alteration at all (other than the mask) and you will get no quality loss. The most important thing was you were framing for 16:9. Noah must cover this in his DVD or maybe ask him personally.
