Thanks in Advance for any help. This is our first week with the HVX, it's a great camera. Here's whats going on:

I shot an interview yesterday in 720pn30, went into final cut and made sure my settings were appropriate for DVCPRO HD 720p30. In the Log and Transfer Window the color looked just like how I had shot it. When I tranfered the footage and look at it on the exact same screen, it looked like I had lit her with a 3/4 CTO: Very warm. I then pulled up the L&T window again and found this to be the case. The preveiw on the L&T was neutral, the captured clip was warm and saturated. Further more there is ALOT of noise in the clip, especially in the shadows.

thanks for your help.

How are you monitoring it from FCP? Capture card to SDI or component monitor? Intensity to HDMI monitor? MXO to DVI monitor? Don't tell me you're making judgments based upon your computer monitor. That isn't accurate. You cannot monitor any video, SD or HD, on your computer screen.

I have to echo the original question. I understand that the lcd's or even computer crts are not accurate but the image they create should be the same as itself... if the transfer window makes it look one way and then fcp makes it look another and I've noticed a difference in gamma as well went opening up clips in QT... then there is a shift happening. Regardless of the fact that you should be monitoring on the right device, why is there a shift in gamma and color on the same device when viewing media across these different components of the programs? And Again, regardless of the hardware... which is the most accurate? FCP timeline. log and transfer window, or QT?

None are accurate. That's the point. The only monitoring you can trust is properly calibrated external monitoring.
