Hey everybody, i got a question. Does anybody know if the HVX 200 got a Testtone, because if I record the Color Bars i donīt have any testtone! what iīve got to do in the settings or is it possible to get a testtone with this camera??? please write back as soon as u can!!

you could play a test tone through the camera from a firewire input off your NLE. or import a .mxf with a tone signal on it and play it back. what do you need the tone for?

Because I sometimes have to do some interviews for TV and I donīt like the large Betacams or other cams on the shoulder. I know that the HVX 200 isnīt the right camera for EB or something but iīd like to use it as far as possible. Thats what I need the testtone for. THX for answer :-) hope U understand!!

Yeah, just as we have to have bars for video, tone is just as important for audio.

Yes, I know that the testtone is just for Audio. The most TV Companies wanna have 30 sec. Bars with 1Khz testtone on the tape u know? thats why I need the tone. But I got A second Question: The Zoom of the HVX 200. U know where u can swich between zoomspeed 1, 2 and 3. I can use 1 its very slow, and I can use 3 its very fast, but if I swich to 2 there is nothing. The Zoom doesnīt work at speed 2. u know what I have to do? Iīm afraid thereīs anything broken, but I got the camera since 3 weeks and the zoom speed 2 doesnīt work even I testet it the first time please help ;-)

I'm not sure if this will help you, but here is a ZIP file with Color Bars with Tone that you can copy to a P2 card and play from the camera. It looks like you're in Europe, so I made a PAL version -- let me know if you need NTSC.

Regarding your zoom speed problem, go to the MENU, then SW MODE, and check your HANDLE ZOOM setting. Two of the available settings disable the zoom in position 2.

Under the menu settings, I believe it is under user settings you can change the zoom handle so that 2 is medium instead of off. Just search around the menus for a bit you will see it.
You currently have it set as the standard L/OFF/H.

Thx for help everybody. The zoom woks. I found the settings in the menu.
