Hi Everyone.. I just have captured some HDV material (with Sony Z1 cineframe 25p) with adobe premiere pro 2.0 (PC) and a external HD and there was no problem with the editing. Now I have tried to visualize them in my MacBook Pro because i want to edit these videos on Final Cut Pro 5 but I canŽt; Quick Time cannot open this file it says that this are not video files (but they are MPEG), I also tried to import them into FCP but the videos appears in black. Maybe (almost sure) is a Codec problem or something about de cineframe...if anyone can help me I will appreciate it A LOT!!
Thanx
Cheers

Capture the footage with FCP if you want to use it with FCP. Premiere and FCP utilize different capture techniques...put different media "wrappers" on the footage. They don't tend to like each others wrappers.
If you want to edit with FCP...capture with FCP.

Especially in Pal - big mess potentially. Stick with FCP capture.

Thanx.. I was thinking about that too but I was wondering if there could be another easy way :D. Thanx again for your help.. IŽll let you know how it works. By the way.. can you explain me a little bit about this codecs... How they work?, It is necessary to install them on FCP to work better?... are the free?
- Codec HVD Apple
- Apple Intermediate Codec
- Apple ProRes (422 ?)

All those codecs you mentioned are installed when you install FCP. If you DON'T install FCP, you will not get those (and many other) codecs...so if you captured an HDV clip on one system and tried to open it on a mac without FCP...it would be white....unable to view.

Thanx again Shane Ross but now IŽm a little confuse. You said "so if you captured an HDV clip on one system and tried to open it on a mac without FCP...it would be white....unable to view." IŽve tried to open the footage in my mac with FCP but it doesnŽt work. Probably is the difference capture technique between APPCS3 anf FCP. This weekend IŽll try to capture de footage again directly with FCP.. IŽll let you know how it goes..
thanx!
