Here is the problem.
I want slow motion real bad, that is why i bought the hvx200. I shoot at 720 60p, and bring that into my project in final cut.
I set up my sequence at 30p or 24p by dropping a 24p clip in, final cut asks me if that is what i want to use for the sequence setting. I say yes to establish this as my baseline settings.
Then i drop a 60p clip in there thinking it will play at less than 50% speed as it has more than twice the frames of the sequence setting. For some reason the clip plays at normal speed. If i want to slow motion it, i have to reduce the speed using apple J, and we all know that FCP does a terrible job with all that frame blending BS. I just want to play all the frames of my 60p footage for that extra creamy deluxe slowmo.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!
Thanks

that's because version 6 lets you mix video all in one timeline. if you were using version 5 it would have worked the way you did it.

Check out the help file for the DVCPro HD frame rate converter that comes with FCP 6--it should help with your questions.

rex,

The frame rate converter is the way to go if you'd like to continue shooting 720/ 60p. I shoot a ton of slow motion shots, and never use 720/ 60p, ever. Using this mode is the only way to record sound with your slow-mo footage, true, but it's a pain in the neck in my opinion.

I set the camera to shoot 720/ 24PN. Then, in the scene file setting (by going into the menu) I change the frame rate from "DEFAULT" up to 48fps or 60fps. This engages the camera to shoot slow motion easily. On the down side, it doesn't record sound. I'll add sound in later, from a clip that was shot on the regular 24fps.

hope this works for you,
andrew
