i cant seem to find what people are talking about when they say 29.97

i mean, i see several options that read that, but how come other plces they say to use 23.98?

i shot my movie in 24p Normal, on a panasonic DVX100B

i think it was normal, i always just kept my dial set to F5 which i believe is 24p normal.

im done cutting, and now all i want to do is upload all of the footage so it looks the best, and obviously takes advantage of the 24p mode on my camera, while also giving me the best resolution and picture.

if i use the easy set up window on FCS2 what format should i choose? i never see DVX i only see DVCpro, ither dvcpro, or 50 or HD, so i choose dvcpro correct? or do i just take normal NTSC for format.

then is "use" set at dv-ntsc? and i see i can set the frame rate to 29.97, so should i do that instead of 23.98 even though i shot in 24 and not 30?

heck, i dont even know if im in the right window, and ive read 5 different instructions on how to do this and theyre all different.

im confused...obviously

You need this: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=81596

It's worth it, trust me. Just by reading your post, I've re-confused myself. I'm sure someone will answer your question, but the DVD is a good reference to have handy.

If you've shot in 24p normal, then you want to import using the DV NTSC preset and edit with a 29.97 timeline.

24p normal is packaged in the dv codec at 29.97 frames per second. It looks like 24p and the 24p cadence is built into the 29.97 fps, but it is encoded as 29.97 and will stay 29.97 however you output it.

24p advanced is the same but packaged differently. There are flags encoded in the footage that allow certain frames to be removed, resulting in a TRUE 24 frames per second, which you can neatly transfer to a 24p dvd or even for film output.

If you had shot 24pa, you would choose the import option to remove the pulldown and you would edit in a 24p timeline, but since you shot 24p, you need to import and edit as 29.97.
