When we opened our HV20 straight out of the box, in the shop, there was a lot of condens, a lot of small water particles on the top and sides of the camera. The delivery guy just brought it in from cold weather into the warm shop and for some reason water particles started building up on the camera.

My question to you all is, do you think it can harm the camera. Should we go back and get it changed? The sales guy cleaned it all off and said it wasn't a big deal. Could this be a future problem for the camera performance?

Thanks guys.

So long as the condesation was only on the outside, rather than inside the lens, etc... It's probably not an issue, having been brought from the cold into a warm shop just before opening the box. However, if you are concerned about it, I think you would be well within your rights as a consumer to exercise the exchange policy of the shop you bought it from.

Either way, when you decide to keep it or exchange it, make sure you fill out your warranty card, just in case you do have problems down the road.

Connect it to a tv and make sure there is nothing in the lens.

It's probably too late but the proper procedure is to let the camera warm up and for the condensation to evaporate.

THEN hook her up and check her out.

Should be just fine.

If not, return to sender.

Best of luck to you.
