I just watched that thing. Man, that bloomkamp guy has to make this movie. He has the perfect vision for it. In the meantime, I love what they're doing here. They were told "we're not making your movie" and they're just going ahead and shooting anyway. Who knows how much they're shooting or what this stuff is actually for (I dont' understand this "last man standing" thing. Is this just a portion of it? are they showing mini-Halo features on Discovery??) but I'm lining up.

I don't know, but the previous ones they have shot have just been popping up on the internet. With all the halo hype a lot of companies like mountain dew / discovery are promoting stuff relevant to it. Basically I think discovery is just using halo 3 to get attention on their 'last man standing' show.

As of right now, I only have gears of war, but seriously, there are some tight games coming out. mass effect, guitar hero 3, and the force unleashed are all going to be amazing too.

One of my friends got it early....so I've been watching him play it. Its pretty cool.....but the graphics aren't as good as I expected. Not a very big jump from halo 2.

You've got to be kidding me. What kind of TV and sound system does he have? I would have thought this would be an almost next generation leap in graphics and audio. The performance of the 360 crushes the original X-Box.

Man, I hope it's a hell of a lot better than 2, and not only graphically.

He has a nice westinghouse 32" lcd tv. Westinghouse isnt the best...but I think it looks good.

I thought the lighting was alot better. Some textures were good....but alot of the metal had a plasticky look upclose. Overall I guess its enough to satisfy....but it wasnt the difference I was expecting.

From what I heard they built the game on the same engine they built halo 2 on....so the graphics could only get so much better.

I played the Beta they released on Live, and I don't know if the game engine will be different, but here is my take.

The graphics aren't immediately better. Looking at it on an HD display (57" 1080p), I wouldn't say, damn that looks good. Gears looks good, Halo looks like Halo. When you get up close to things they have a lot more texture then Halo 2. The guns are better detailed and the worlds are more detailed, but it isn't a huge jump. The play is smooth though. The engine seems to stay stable at a high FPS with lots of players and explosions going on on-screen, which I will take over resolution any day.

My limited edition in the steel box is so janky. Box is dented and not embossed, just a crooked halo 3 printed logo.

Both discs were loose inside and the extras disc is scratched to all hell. Pontiac ads and a mediocre art book in there also.

I was able to play it a bit last night; online multiplayer will still be the best part of halo- and they stepped it up w/ H3... lots of fun.

The games awesome yet i'm extremely disapointed with the short films [live action] ones. I don't know why.. If it's the way it's set out. The detail. Quality perhaps. I'm just disapointed gravely by what i seen so far. I hope to hell it's not like that in the cinema upon release. =[

I played this afternoon with my friend who got it at midnight last night.

I am still terrible and I don't notice that much of a difference. It looked a little better, there was more detail, and some of the things were "cooler" than I remembered.

Not worth the hype, IMO.

I had a shoot at microsoft studios today (also where the microsoft store is located) and there were people lined up around the entire building waiting to buy Halo 3. While we were on brake I went to the visitor center and played it for a couple of minutes. Honestly don't see what the big hype is for this game, personally would not be waiting in a long line in the rain for this thing.

It's not worth the hype, but I was so disappointed with the last one that i wasn't even really looking forward to this one (i'm not big into deathmatch) but my friend tricked me into getting it (i swear!) and to be honest so far it's actually impressed me... a little.

I do wish it looked better. I mean it looks good, but it's not a 360 show piece. The graphics stand out more design wise than technically. Sound is pretty good and the AI has been bumped up. I don't remember the baddies using suppressive fire like they do now. And even in the first couple hours, the story of Halo 2 had lost me, and Halo 3 has been much more compelling, well, more compelling.

It's been fun, just not FUCKING AMAZING! AHHHHHHHHHH! HALO 3! YEEAAAHHHHHH!

Finished the game at 4:00 AM this morning. Good stuff. Good conclusion to the trilogy. By the time you make it to the very end of the game you're jumping off the couch cheering the Master Chief's name ... at least I was. :)

The graphics aren't really that much better. The main difference is in the multiplayer gameplay. They've spent huge amounts of effort in streamlining it perfectly, so that it's essentially as good as halo can get. The people who really get the best of this are those who spent a lot of time playing. Granted, that's not myself. But it's an excellent game from what I've played.

The replay system for multiplayer is nice, but I predict the bullet time effect will get old real quick just like it did in EVERY OTHER VIDEOGAME since 2002! =)

I never played either Halo before, but i tried this one out. The single player so far is pretty good on the normal setting (i'm at level 4 or 5), and the multiplayer is pretty damn good. I loved and still love the Gears multiplayer a lot, but Halo 3 offers a lot more in the multiplayer aspect. And most important of all, the game is fun!

And like said before, it doesn't have the best next gen graphics, but they are above average, good graphics and the game has good fps. It's a damn good game, which is why it suprises me how it has so much mass appeal. (if that makes any sense)

Yeah, I had ordered the limited disc from amazon, and it came in all scratched up. So I'm going to get a refund on that. But that thursday I went out and bought the standard edition from target, which had like 5 of them. My gamer tag is pfista if any of you wants to play me sometime.

I just beat it a few minutes ago and I thought it was total ass. There's nothing new here to get excited about. It's the same old cliche'd sci-fi tripe, so I never understand the amount of hype that goes into it. The only things that make it sell as well as it does are...

1) A fanbase that contains millions of "casual" gamers

2) The multiplayer

Maybe if they spent more time and effort trying to make a game with an actual f.ucking story and some characters worth caring about they'd have more to brag about than "LOOK HOW MANY WE SOLD!" I mean, Master Chief is one-dimensional in the worst way. Just go here, shoot this, save universe. And all those Cortana blips throughout the game. I was expecting some big explanation for all of that random shit that spews out of her. Wrong. Nothing. Even the cut-scenes seemed thrown together with their atrocious editing and staggered pace. If they're really going to make a movie out of the franchise, I hope they don't let Bungie touch it. Otherwise we're going to end up with another DOOM.

Now if you're up for playing a game that truly breaks new ground and looks beautiful as well...
