As I understand it..... you have 60gig on a p2 store but can only get 7 or 8 dumps from a 8gig card regardless of how little footage there may be on the cards, right?
I called Panasonic and the guy told me that you don't loose any storage due to partitioning. Am I missing something or did he misunderstand my question?

Is there a way around partitioning to get more dumps?

Thanks

The P2 Store allocates a new partition every time you tell it to copy a card. And the partition it allocates is large enough for the card it's copying -- regardless of how much actual data is on the card. So yes, if your cards are not 100% full, the potential is there to waste space. If you had an 8GB card with only 1GB of data on it, then you would be wasting 7GB of space on the P2 Store.

That's just the way it works. Don't offload cards until they're full and you should get maximum space efficiency. If you have to offload a card before it's full, recognize that you'll be losing out on some gigs.

Thanks Barry,

That's what I thought, but the Panasonic guy confused me a little.

Thanks again,
