I have worked with hvx200 many times, we would always run snake cable to the mixer. I never downloaded the files from the cards it was always someone telling me that they have 4 files for each take. 2 for right and 2 for left or something like that.. What is that function in hvx??? Thanks

In HD or DVCPRO50 mode it always records four channels -- two from the XLRs and two from the onboard stereo mic.

In DV or DVCPRO mode, when recording to the card, you can choose whether you want two or four channels.

Barry is this covered in the bootcamp dvd?

Everything I can think of, HVX-related, is on the DVDs, yes.

Do you think I would be able to have 4 channel hvx with beach tech /?? Where it would disable onboard mics and add two xlr inputs?? That would be sweet.

Not four distinct channels. An external mixer can mix more than two input down to the two XLR inputs, but you can't do anything with the two channels for the internal mikes.

Someone on here did a hardware modification to their HVX to allow two more external audio inputs. Even posted pictures; search around. I think they just sold that camera too.
