I just got a used DVX100 for about 1000 bucks. Its in great condition but It has 526 hrs on it. I am wondering how many hours can one of these babies go before it needs to be serviced. And if problems DO arise with the tape heads, how expensive is it to fix? So far its workin' fine. What do ya guys think? Let me know!

1,000+ hours is what I've heard. The heads cost $800-1000 to replace so it's almost better to go tapeless/firestore

Just shoot to DVRack/OnLocation and no worries about tapes. If you must use tapes make sure to use Pany AMQ 63min tapes ONLY, and clean only with the Panasonic "dry" cleaner. Also get a rewinder.

Join the club. I think mine has about the same as yours, and I'll probably have it serviced next spring.
Now that I think about it, why not do like i did and pickup a panasonic cleaning tape from B&H.
