Id love to but I edit on avid which cannot do the pulldown - I know i could use some tools to do it - but the editor is doing it on FCP with the pulldown. Best I would be able to post is 1080i which as a still frame isnt nearly as good as 1080P

I see. Do you edt on a mac? If so you can open up the "preview" program, then go to "grab", then "selection" and drag it over the space on the screen you want to grab a still from. Its also uncompressed. As far as 1080i with pulldown goes, select a progressive frame and grab it!
If none of that works. I will gladly take what ever you can give me!

I am on a PC - and avid doesnt remove the pulldown so any grabbed frame is interlaced

Oh...
Interlace is the new progressive! 1080i is the best! Ill take it!

why du you use so little DOF? straight with 2/3 is nevertheless very simple.
Smelni, do you have the p2cms? Just open a clip there and use the frame capture option (Its on the p2 viewer bottom left corner, right next to the "out" icon.

Not sure what you mean here - do you mean shallow or deep DOF? There is a lot of use of out of focus items - we actually printed all DOF charts and used them to put objects just at the edge of focus - but that is hard to see with the images smaller on the web

it looks like it captures at the wrong aspect for 1080 clips. I will have to figure this out later - it does however appear to remove pulldown

Sorry for my bad english. I mean. Your film-stills looks great!!! But
I am surprised, why so little diffuse in the background you are using.

we have plenty of shallow DOF shots and many rack focus shots - I chose the images to post for overall composition, lighting and examples so not all of those types of shots are there.
Just cause you can have shallow DOF doesnt mean you should always have it IMHO

(In My Humble Opinion) -- A shorthand appended to a comment written in an online forum, IMHO indicates that the writer is aware that they are expressing a debatable view, probably on a subject already under discussion. One of may such shorthands in common use online, especially in discussion forums.

Hi Seth, finally caught the article on Pana website. Great work btw. Just reading your zebra comments, Ive been working from 90 and 95 and the results have been excellent. Quite honestly this cam has been producing some stunning shots. And now really looking at it with perspective, the choice between this little (big) guy and the bit of extra res you can pull from XDcam, is easy for me, HPX and it all has to do with the something that I initially thought would be a weakness.
Always like to be proven wrong when youve put up the $. Just dped a music vid thats got bluescreen in every shot bar a few ECUs and one CU. And this thing killed it. Ill post up some stills when the producers allow.

thanks man - I think that people dont really generally understand how amazing this camera is - its in a sweet spot of price, quality , features and professionalism. Truly a great camera - I have a couple more features scheduled on it.

Also looks like Larry Pine is in this.
Good stuff. We shot with the HPX on our last film (in my sig) and I was pretty happy with it too. Only thing was some of our gear wasn't beefy enough to hold the damned thing, having worked with an HVX all this time. :)
I looked at the top of this thread but did not see: Are there full-res grabs anywhere?
