I've been too busy trying to get everything lined up. I'm leaving for Italy in 10 days for 2 weeks, and I'm trying to get at least a rough cut done before then so I can give it to Leo.

We haven't been announcing the prizes until right around the deadline for entries for the last few fests. This fest will likely be the same.

Besides, honestly, for me (and I am sure most here) it's not about the prizes, as much as it's about getting out there and making something happen. For me, I am working with some new crew (including Geoff, who is DP'ing) and I'm excited to work with some new people and see how we mesh together, so that on bigger projects I have people I can rely on.

It's all good, man. I wasn't downing on you or anything, or trying to make this thread another one of those types of threads.

I just wanted to let you know that if you were waiting on prize announcements before entering, that you shouldn't expect them anytime soon. :)


I've got the idea hammered out and on paper... Plan to shoot in about two weeks. I have to make a few props first. I dont' know how the 'story' of it is going to hold up. I'm approaching this one as a technical excercise. Cinematography and such being the focus more so than story.... we'll see.

John... I totally hope you find the time needed to put this one together over a less rigorous, less last minute schedule of your drama fest entry. It showed so much potential, and I'd love to see what you do with a more structured process. Looking forward to it, whatever it is.

Yes Ad fest and Spyfest. Opening it up to other cameras has been very refreshing. The new participants were a high caliber bunch in both fests.

I agree, opening it up, really did do great things for the fest... this one is shaping up to be a good one... I have a feeling a lot of people will hop in at the last minute (with threads, updates, etc.) and not do the long build-up thing... seems more effective to be last minute with the threads...

I'm shooting one of mine this coming weekend....and the other in early October. I dont have a thread for either yet, but I will get them up as soon as we've done some shooting and have some stuff worth showing.

Both should be pretty cool....one is a comedy and one is a war film.

I will try to get something in but got really busy all of a sudden with these music videos. The next one we are shooting this month will be on a RED and I have to learn the whole work flow and whatnot and make sure everything is in order before the shoot. Plus they want it done before the release of the album in a month and a half and I'm just getting started on editing the Lately video.

1/ I've got 1/2 in the works. Scripts almost complete. Shooting in 2 weeks. The local council is an ass though, so production is quite hard.

2/ Second film is set in the semi-present day. Involves pirates & vampires. Arg!

Although the second film is based ever so slightly off a novel, and so it's more than likely it's gonna be worked more into a 5-10 minute short. More time to work and improve on it etc. I'll probably post it up in the 'User Films' section, a thread similar to the ones here.
