Hello all. I am currently in Germany working on a shoot and we had to rent a camera. We ended up with the A1. I have stayed away from HDV because of its color space and editing eccentricities, and only shot DVCPRO HD. I have to say that the little A1 camera blew me away. Its color rendering and a camera ergonomics made it a real joy to shoot with. The footage looked beautiful. The camera layout was well thought and the pictures and dynamic range were really good. Just thought I would give ac anon shout out from a mostly panasonic user. Really impressed with this little camera.

Canon employee?

WTH? If someone like the A1 then they must be a Canon shill? You've been all over the forum complaining about the CA in the A1. Yes, it's there, but I haven't encounter it and the audience for my movies neither noticed or care. People have been telling you all over that CA is inherent in all camera at this price range. If you don't want CA, spend the big bucks; stop complaining.

Another Canon employee?

LOL, I was just kidding, take it easy. I will likely get an A1 too. Can't afford the big bux. :(

Sorry, got a little carried away there. Honestly though, I've never noticed any CA with the A1. I'll go home and put together some unCCed footage of a short film I did recently. I'll have it up tonight.

I think I'm the last guy on earth anyone would accuse of being a Canon employee, and I said the XHA1 was far and away the best HDV camcorder on the market. Someone doesn't have to be an employee of a company in order to like the product or say something good about it, fer cryin' out loud.

Jason glad you had a great experience as is often the case with people who actually use the cam.

I was all set to sell my A1 being that my primary camera for shooting when I return to australia will be the HPX. Ive totally scrapped the idea of selling and have the PAL capability being installed shortly. Seems suprising but this is a great B cam to a HPX.

That's good to hear.
I was actually bouncing around the idea of getting one as a Bcam to my HVX.

Of course, I bounce alot of ideas around.

Hey Ncje, did you go to Japan for film school, or only for shooting?

Using the pana presets created by disjecta as a start point and then doing post cc from both is very very close..... good enough in my opinion.

Just to shoot myself - but never bought the gun. Surprising really considering. :2vrolijk_08:

Hey Ncje, if you're considering then you must!
I really want to learn some of the Japanese ways of filming, and maybe steal some of their secrets.
Sorry what does the "gun" mean? Hpx?
